On Phe Festival we are very aware of the value of our community. We feel loved and that is something that not everyone can say. The loyalty of the public that accompanies us year after year and that feeling of belonging to a family – a little unstructured, okay, multinuclear, not very traditional… but we can discuss that at another time – is one of the foods of our little heart.

Maybe you wonder what this emotional and even a little cheesy speech is all about and you do well, so here we go: we have to talk. Neither you nor we are what is said to be normal beings, nor do we need to, but since we all have our contradictions and have learned to live with them, and sincerity is the basis of a healthy relationship, we believe that it is fair to transfer one of our concerns: Why don't we make our thing official? Yes, we know, the metaphor can be a bit funny, but it is what it is. And at festivals, like at buffets, drinks are separate. Do you see how it is not so far-fetched? Anyway, let's stop justifying our little ingenuity and get to the point.

We said that the musical offer of a festival has a certain resemblance to the gastronomic offer of a buffet: some essential dishes, indisputable hits before which the respectable swarms, new additions that will become classics or not and some rarities that, a priori, They will only draw the attention of those who understand or who refuse to recognize their condition as a mass and assume membership in a supposed elite who knows according to what criteria. (Canned hearts of palm at a buffet have seen these little eyes that are now looking at the screen).

An event like Phe Festival, international, eclectic, multidisciplinary, family, sustainable –We stop with the adjectives because you will think that there is a bias and you will be right – it wants and must offer variety on its counter, be an attractive proposal for anyone and a refuge of solace for those who want to approach and withdraw from the madding crowd to immerse themselves in other noises. Thus, it is perfectly understandable that out of the entire offer – this year we have come a long way: two days, two stages, twenty groups, a lot of hours of music – someone escapes you. The Weeird will be the group in charge of opening the door of love this year. Phe Festival expands lineup in its seventh edition and incorporates new experiences

The meeting of music and trends in Puerto de la Cruz proposes 22 concerts on two stages with Los Planetas, Digitalism, Viva Sweden, Maika Makovski and Xoel López as headliners.

Phe Festival, to be held in Puerto de la Cruz from 15 to 20 August, grows in its seventh edition incorporating new spaces and experiences at the same time that it expands the musical offer with 22 performances live. This proposal will fill the corners of the tourist city with music and trends, with a program that seeks to reconnect audiences and that remains faithful to the values acquired since the first edition: offering a perfect vacation plan in the Canary Islands in a collective effort to revitalize the cultural offer and external image, contributing to the social and economic development of the municipality.

The news and main details of the program were announced today, in an informative act that was attended by the mayor of the municipality and Councilor for Culture Marco González; the Deputy Minister of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands, Juan Márquez; the general director of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands Laura Fuentes Vega; the island director of Tourism of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Laura Castro Hernández and Carlos Ulises Salazar, co-director of Phe Festival.

The festival takes a qualitative leap in terms of the selection of artists that are part of the poster for this edition. Proof of this is the participation of Los Planetas, a reference band in independent music, or the increase in international presence with the German duo Digitalism and references from Latin America such as Mexican Institute of Sound and Mule. To these concerts are added those of Viva Suecia, Maika Makovski, Xoel López, Alizzz, Queralt Lahoz, Dani, The Parrots, Kokoshca, Adiós Amores, Las Dianas, Chaqueta de Chándal, El Faro, Lucia Tachetti, The Weeird, Baldosa y Mollo & The Freestyle Poodoo Experts which, divided into two stages, will turn the venue located on the esplanade of the Puerto de la Cruz dock into a celebration of the best of the independent scene on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 August.

The addition of a second scenario is one of the main novelties of Phe 2022. A measure that satisfies the interest shown for years by the festival to expand the musical offer, so that more presence of Canarian groups can also be incorporated.

The celebration of the European Music Day (DEM) this Saturday June 18 at the Aguere Cultural Space in La Laguna will be the stage where Phe Festival will offer the presentation party for its 2022 edition, with performances bycatalan Ferran Palau, the jerezano ghouljaboy and the canarian band Sex Sodium Sullivan. The appointment will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will have a festive continuation with the musical selection of Víctor Carballeira and La Maldita.

On Thursday, August 18, the San Antonio skatepark will host the regional skate and BMK championship, as well as exhibitions of riders and skaters. At the same time, the fishing pier of Puerto de la Cruz will once again be the scene of the acrobatic jumps into the sea contest III BMX Aqualia Water Jump, that returns on Friday to the programming of Phe. This year Phe Yoga maintains its offer of internships and diversifies spaces, a commitment to foster cooperation with some city centers in a collaborative and sustainable model of circular economy, managed as a public-private framework.

The Phe Festival organization is firmly committed to the Sustainable Development Goals and will continue to work to promote a more responsible, accessible and egalitarian event. In this way, it deepens into the measures developed in order to make a festival with greater ecological awareness, through a daily activity that can be associated with up to eleven of the objectives set by the United Nations, also in tune with the 2030 Agenda of the Government of the Canary Islands. and the document 'The Seven Keys in Puerto de la Cruz', the roadmap for the city's cultural and creative ecosystem.

Phe Festival once again stands out as the best of culture in the Canary Islands in 2021

Despite not classifying any Canarian activity in the national ranking, the Culture Observatory presented by the Fundación Contemporánea and made up of more than a thousand professionals from the sector, places Phe Festival already Mueca at the top of the cultural offer of the islands for the second consecutive year. We continue to be surprised and grateful for the consideration and recognition of the effort that has been made through the active policies of Puerto de la Cruz, generating a cultural ecosystem that would not be possible without the support of the public.

To offer these results, Fundación Contemporánea sends a questionnaire to a panel of experts made up of more than a thousand top-level professionals from our culture: writers, artists, directors and actors, musicians, architects and creators from all fields; heads of foundations, directors of museums, theaters, cultural centers and institutions; editors, producers, promoters, gallery owners and managers of cultural industries; exhibition curators, festival directors, cultural managers and professionals in the sector, as well as heads of cultural areas and institutions of the central, regional and municipal public administration.

In this new edition of the Observatory of Culture, the questionnaire has been answered, during the months of December 2021 and January 2022, by 358 members of the panel, of whom 44.7% work in a public cultural organization, 39. 9% in a private cultural organization and 15.5% as independent professionals in the sector.

Among the most outstanding novelties in the 2021 report in the Canary Islands, other festivals of different genres are added to the ranking, such as TEA, Keroxen, Festival Internacional Clownbaret and Canarias Jazz & más, events that share the first positions with WOMAD, the Canary Islands International Music Festival, the Festival del Cuento and Masdanza.

The seventh edition of Phe Festival will be held on August 19 and 20, 2022

With the commitment to offer a safe cultural experience, Phe Festival will return on August 19 and 20, 2022 to Puerto de la Cruz with a program that will again combine live music with fresh and unique proposals to reconnect audiences. The festival says goodbye to a unique edition, the second marked by the new context, once again consolidating itself as one of the most outstanding cultural and social events in the Canary Islands.

Thus, Phe faces its next edition with expectations fulfilled and in a collective effort that contributes to revitalize the image of Puerto de la Cruz, a model municipality in the development and promotion of the island's cultural and creative fabric, as a safe environment and attractive destination. "From the City Council we want to thank everyone for the exercise of responsibility to say clearly that with work, effort and conviction, Culture is Safe and Phe Festival has been, once again, an example", he indicates to the regarding the mayor and head of Culture, Marco González. “In addition, culture is a value in itself because of what it means in these difficult times for so many people. Urban sports, yoga and contemporary art have integrated the festival's program which, once again this year, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable practices. In this way, those attending the urban competitions and workshops on Aqualia Phe Sports, as well as the participants in the different practices of Phe Yoga, in addition to Phe Gallery, the collective exhibition installed at the Castillo de San Felipe Cultural Space since the end of July, has brought together hundreds of attendees in this sixth edition that recovers the spirit of the summer festival that characterizes it.

As was done in 2020, Phe Festival has been held again adapting its organization and structure to the new context, all the activities have been carried out with an exhaustive security protocol for the public, artists and the team involved in the organization. All this without neglecting the values and commitments acquired by the event since its inception, a result that would not have been possible without the involvement of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, and also that of institutions, sponsors and collaborators, whose support has been essential for the growth and development of this sixth edition. Phe Festival 2021 says goodbye in Puerto de la Cruz betting on safe culture
