Ferrato is co-founder of the Riciclato Circo Musicale group, with which he has held concerts and taught educational workshops with recycled materials from 2006 to 2013, and currently organizes musical workshops for schoolchildren in Tenerife using recycled materials to manufacture innovative instruments. musicals and scenery.

books to dance

The ticket office area and access to the concert venue of the Phe Festival 2023 will also be the point of a literary and musical meeting, at 12:00 noon, with Gerardo Cardboard  (Madrid, 1972). Musician in projects such as Micromachines and Radio 77, former director of PIAS Records Spain –a company in which he spent fifteen years–, show promoter, radio host, DJ and writer. An activist of the independent scene whose literary vocation and the publication of his latest book This is how the 20th century (and part of the 21st) is danced, edited by Muzikalia, brings it to Puerto de la Cruz, sheltered by Phe Festival 2023. It will be a meeting with readers in an open conversation with the author about this publication.

According to Muzikalia review, This is how the 20th century (and part of the 21st) is danced “It is a vital and musical journey not only through his life, but through ours. An essay as peculiar as himself, embodied in nearly 300 pages that show that there are things that go far beyond the duration of a song, any scene, any record company, any festival and any fashion. That is the strip where it has been moving for a long time and here we will find out”.

The author of Manual of the perfect festival goer (Lunwerg, 2015), signed together with Jorge Obón and Manuel Bartual, invites the reader on a musical journey that starts from 1972 to the present, song by song, “to put that nameless, outcast generation in front of the mirror, anonymous, and deeply uprooted, but chameleonically strong. A generation that is not from the scene, nor from the indie, much less millennial. His, yours, ours".

Phe Festival invites you to discover the culture of wine with visits to wineries and tastings

The eighth edition of the festival organizes a meeting with Wine Garden in two reference wineries in the Valley of La Orotava, and gives impetus to the local product in a well-kept space within the concert venue

The eighth edition of Phe Festival, which will be held on August 18 and 19 in Puerto de la Cruz, endorses its commitment to local products and sustainability through a series of actions linked to the enoculture. A holiday experience that also includes the culture of wine at the Phe Festival with the name of Winegarden. It is a leisure proposal that is part of the varied offer that this year presents the Phexperiences, and that complete the parallel activities of this edition.

Wine Garden It is a meeting point for wine culture and innovation that is structured between visits with limited places to different reference wineries in the Valley of La Orotava, with wine tasting and gastronomic tasting, on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 August; and the creation of its own space in the festival grounds, on Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th, where you can discover and taste a selection of wines from four wineries.

These conferences around wine begin on Wednesday August 16 with the first of the organized visits to the wineries in the area, which will have as its first destination the winery The Hague. It is a small winery that makes three types of white wines -fruity, dry and barrel-, with a limited production from native Canary Islands varieties and vines that are over 200 years old.

On Thursday, August 17, the second of the visits of Wine Garden leads to the Arautava winery. A winery that is due to respect and tradition with the manual work of the vineyards and the exclusive commitment to native varieties. Cultivated on volcanic soil that gives a “unique minerality” to these Tenerife wines, which are made with as little intervention as possible and which enhances the varietal personality of the Listán Negro, Listán Blanco, Albillo Criollo and Malvasía Aromatica grapes.

Both visits have been organized for small groups, with registration through the festival website

These meetings in wineries that make possible the first toasts prior to the launch of the eighth edition of Phe 2023, will have their particular soundtrack with the participation of djs and regular selectors of the Phe Festival.

The activities around the wines of the Valley of La Orotava have their extension in the two days of the festival, August 18 and 19, with a space in the Phe 2023 venue reserved for four wineries of this denomination of origin: to the wineries The Hague and Arautava, protagonists in the visits and tasting in the previous days, two others are added: the winery Lomar, limited production; and Luck of the Marquis, one of the four Spanish wineries -together with Tempos Vega Sicilia, Can Sumoi and Viñedos Sierra Cantabria- that is among the 100 best in the world according to the latest 2022 ranking of the American magazine Wine & Spirits. A recognition that the Tenerife winery repeats after the distinctions received by this benchmark publication in the sector in 2019 and 2021.

Curated in this edition by beatrice rock, an art historian with training in the management of cultural projects, together with a curatorial team made up of agents from the artistic field in different areas and disciplines, the exhibition is made up of a selection of the works registered in the Phe Gallery 2023 call to date. June 9. The curatorial team is made up of: Dailo Boat, filmmaker, curator and cultural researcher; Paula Skull, an urban artist specializing in the creation of murals and whose work addresses issues such as the concept of identity and female empowerment; and Zulo Room, an exhibition space founded by the architects Pablo Delgado and Iñaki Pérez.

An exceptional appointment in the summer calendar of festivals in the Canary Islands with an event that is a benchmark in the island and national sphere, as revealed this afternoon by the mayor of Puerto de La Cruz and Councilor for Culture, Marco González. "There are many festivals, but few are aware that they are taking place in Puerto de la Cruz and have a real commitment to their surroundings," Gonzalez said at an informative event held on the terrace of the Dwo Nopal hotel, in Puerto de la Cruz, in the Also present were the vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife and Minister of Tourism, Lope Afonso; the insular Councilor for Culture, José Carlos Acha; and the co-director of Phe Festival, Ulises Salazar.

"Phe Festival is the cultural insignia as the best event in the entire Canary Islands, as recognized by the Observatory of Culture at a national level, and this distinction has been achieved by positioning itself above institutions that even triple budgets," recalled Marco González. The mayor highlighted in his speech that "Phe Festival is much more than a festival, and not only because of its varied program of parallel activities, but also because of the effort they make every year regarding the festival's social awareness and the 2030 agenda." An event that in its history and on the eve of its eighth edition "has been a committed festival example and one of the festivals that most and best meet the Sustainable Development Goals, updating and renewing its commitments in each edition. That awareness must be put into value ”.

For his part, the vice-president of the Cabildo de Tenerife and insular Councilor for Tourism, Lope Afonso, congratulated the organization of Phe Festival for being “a reality that is no longer emerging but a consolidated and successful product. Eight years ago Phe Festival arrived in Puerto de la Cruz to tell what indie music was, being the first festival of its kind. Such has been the success that after eight editions it has established itself as a national and international reference”. A success that in his opinion is due to "a consolidated pairing of culture and tourism, have managed to generate a great capacity to attract visitors to the Port, becoming a reference that refreshes the type of visitors in Puerto de la Cruz”. A festival that "positions Tenerife's tourism strategy very well", according to Afonso, as confirmed by the public from up to 14 different autonomous communities that have Puerto de la Cruz as their destination and that attend the eighth edition of the Phe Festival. .

The insular Councilor for Culture, José Carlos Acha, also appreciated the commitment of the Phe Festival in this new edition and the fact that it works with music and culture together with tourism and the participation of the social environment. “We value the example that it represents for other initiatives, an event with a proposal and values that can be replicated, designed for a diverse audience in ages and tastes, musically eclectic but adequate in its combination”, pointed out Acha.

For his part, Ulises Salazar, co-director of Phe Festival, highlighted regarding the eighth edition of the event that "we continue to bet on a medium format event, following an event model almost gourmet, but without losing the popular character. We work with limited capacity to enjoy the experience with comfort, relaxation and a pleasant way of living it, avoiding queues and crowds. The person in charge of the festival also recalled that this year “very affordable access and consumer prices are maintained. This distinction is important to generate a quality vacation experience”.

Phe Festival opens call for the sixth edition of Gallery, a collective show of emerging artists in the Canary Islands

The Phe Gallery proposal inaugurates the parallel activities of the Porto festival, occupying the San Felipe Castle and other spaces in the city during the month of August.

Phe Festival and the Culture area of Puerto de la Cruz organize for the sixth consecutive year Phe Gallery, a call open to creators for the presentation of artistic projects in different formats (painting, sculpture, graffiti, installations, photography, illustration, video art, performance, window dressing...), which will be shown to the public in the collective exhibition that will take place at the Castillo San Felipe Cultural Space from July 28 to August 27, a collaborative proposal that kicks off the parallel activities in the 2023 edition of the festival.

Phe Gallery is a platform for the dissemination of current art made in the Canary Islands, generating creative and social actions to bring cultural innovation closer to all audiences. It offers an open space for meeting and dialogue for emerging artists from the islands, thus collaborating with the promotion of culture as a factor of sustainable development in Puerto de la Cruz.
