Music and artists that resonate in Phemenino

The ninth edition of the Phe Festival features female voices of different styles and generations such as Solea Morente, Shego, Pipiolas, Repion, Jela and Mavica, who will perform in Puerto de la Cruz on August 23 and 24.

#PHE2024 || #UnicoInCanarias || #WeTalkMusic

The ninth edition of PHE Festival, which will be held on August 23 and 24 in Puerto de la Cruz, has a woman's name in a large part of its artistic lineup, with the presence of singers, composers and instrumentalists of different generations and styles, such as the Tenerife native Jela, Solea Morente, Pipiolas, Repion, Mavic and shego. Big names on the national and international scene, such as Solea Morente, one of the headliners of the first day of PHE Festival, along with the band Lori Meyers, who has not given up his family roots and his flamenco background to experiment with pop rock and more alternative sounds; and other figures called to be phenomena in their field, revelation artists, etc., a label that falls on shego, Mavic and Pipiolas and in the singer from Tenerife Jela. And without losing sight of the impact of the Cantabrian duo Repion, active for over a decade.

A group of women with a wide-spectrum creative universe in which there is everything: rap and urban sounds with a different pace that feed the new musical harvest in the Canary Islands; flamenco substratum with splinters of rock and pop; grunge and post-adolescent frustration; and electric dreams of pop melancholy, among other kinds of style.

Of the aforementioned formations, four will perform on Friday 23rd, on the first day of concerts of PHE Festivel. A long afternoon in which the public that comes to the traditional call of the festival of El Puerto in the penultimate week of August, will be able to discover the live performances of Jela, Pipiolas, Repion and Solea Morente, along with other bands performing that day, such as: Enrique Ive, Dove, Joe Twilight, Sen Senra and Lori Meyers. The other two bands with women's names, Mavic and shego, perform on Saturday 24th and share the stage with Nala Rami, Camels, Leon Benavente and Trentemøller, among others.

The singer from Tenerife Jela She is an artist who looks beyond rap and last year released her first album, Temple. An artist called to write major pages and who is presented at the PHE Festival in a state of effervescence with a bouquet of songs that already walk alone, like Warrior Rial, Temple, The Messiah or I love you to death, all of his recent harvest.

Jela will be accompanied live by a band of musicians that make up Manu Alles To the bass, Fernando Angulo on percussion, Hector Left to the guitars, and Alberto Martin on keyboards. And she will be the second to perform on Friday 22nd after the opening with Enrique Ive. After the Tenerife singer, the time sequence of the first day, barring any changes, leads to two very different sound proposals: Pipiolas and RepionPipiolas is a duo based in Madrid, a creation of the Elefant label, formed by the Gran Canarian Adriana Ubani and the madrilenian Paula Reyes, and with its own musical language, mature, fresh and fun, it is asking for a place thanks to its first album There is no god and countless stellar collaborations.

The blame for the success shared by the two singers and actresses who embarked on this story that began in 2022 with the release of the single Daffodil, They have songs like I'm not a Xoxo, Love song for you, Own ballads, Pogo at home, Saint Peter, Do you dance or what? or Baby, among others from the repertoire of There is no god

A special proposal that of Pipiolas, who have toured half the peninsula with festivals and concerts in which they have conquered the public and critics with a pop full of edges and fantasy in which it is impossible to get bored, in which there are great melodies, arrangements and an overflowing imagination. With a handful of hits in their repertoire and they are called to be one of the great news of Spanish pop in the coming years, because they are creative, effervescent, unprejudiced, brainless, illuminated, brilliant, fun, exciting and energetic. The Pipiolas live line-up is completed with Philip Sauerwald, guitar; Alvaro Angel, battery; and Marina Hurtado, To the bass.

With the Cantabrian duo Repion The PHE Festival enters into other sound coordinates. The sisters Marine (guitar and vocals) and Teresa Inesta (drums and backing vocals) feed this creature with a lot of vitality, teenage rage and a touch of melancholy. A sound that draws from grunge and pop but goes beyond and connects with alternative rock references such as Sleater-Kinney or Juliana Hatfield, and others such as Dover, Big Thief or the Beatles.

A rock discharge with a knife between the teeth, with just the right amount of joy in the lyrics and a live performance that runs over. Their latest work is the EP We all fix it together (Mushroom Pillow, 2024), released last May, which includes candies of the caliber of The day doesn't give me any time, Friday, what about you? and They come from having a good time. In his discography we must notice the debut album Poppy hurts (2016) and the album of the same name Repion (2023) and first for Mushroom Pillow.

The two sisters who give life to Repion They collaborate on other parallel projects: Marina is a guitarist and backing vocalist in Mikel Erentxun's band; and Teresa is a singer and guitarist in a new pop-punk project called Aiko, as well as a drummer in Yawners.

The voice of Solea Morente is one of the great protagonists of the first day of PHE Festivel 2024. The flamenco roots of the Morente saga preside over each of their movements, whether towards pop or alternative rock, among projects of different nature in

those he has worked on. His will be the stage before the concerts of Sen Senra and Lori MeyersThe name of Soleá Morente compels us to pay tribute to one of the most important families in Spanish music, formed by the Granada singer Enrique Morente and the dancer Aurora Carbonell.

A versatile and chameleonic creator who has projected herself in film and television and especially in music. Her beginnings were in 2011 with Los Evangelistas, a tribute band to her father Enrique Morente, which included members of Los Planetas and Lagartija Nick, with whom she would publish the EP as lead singer Meeting (2013). Since then, Soleá Morente, who in 2018 received the Princess of Girona Foundation Award for Arts and Letters, has released four albums in which she has been able to touch on countless styles with radically different parameters: electronic, rock, pop, indie, shoegazing, techno, rumba and flamenco. There will have to be a way (The Volcano/Sony, 2015), Ole Lorelei (The Volcano/Sony,2018), What you are missing (Elefant, 2020) and Aurora and Henry (Elefant, 2021), are the long-form works to date in which Soleá Morente has had on her side big names from the national scene, including Guille Milkyway (La Casa Azul), Ana Fernández-Villaverde (La Bien Querida), David Rodríguez (La Estrella de David) or Jota (Los Planetas).

A SATURDAY WITH MAVICA AND SHEGO

On Saturday 24th the PHE Festival puts the spotlight on Mavica and Shego. Mavic, an artist and producer from Cartagena based in London, will be the second performance of the second day of concerts, while the Madrid trio Shego will do so later and before the festival in El Puerto and its public meet again with León Benavente.

Mavic is the project of artist Marta Casanova. Her sound mixes folk with indie, pop and electronic sounds, a kind of pop melancholy wrapped in electronic production that has earned her millions of plays on streaming platforms. She moved to London when she began studying Performance and Production at the London College of Creative Media. There she wrote her first EP, Gonand, which includes the song Fire Critically acclaimed on The Line of Best Fit and The 405. In September she released her debut album Sometimes a person never comes back (but that's okay), which received support from Rolling Stone, Billboard Latin, Clash, C-Heads, Early Rising, Paste, BBC Radio 1, KCRW and took her to the front page of the playlists Indie Radar from Spotify and Global Rising from Tidal. MAVICA has frequently performed at festivals such as Primavera Sound, Mad Cool and O Son Do Camino and has supported Alice Phoebe Lou, Roo Panes, Blanco White and Low Island.

shego is a rock band from Madrid formed by Maite, Raquel and Charlotte. MIN Award for Best Emerging Artist 2023 and an album released Good luck girl (2023), Shego is another of the pearls in the Saturday session of the PHE Festival with hymns full of light and shadows that lead us through love, grief, rage, and internal conflicts. In February 2023 they released their debut album and have a second work in the pipeline with which they intend to make a statement to establish themselves as the band leading the resurgence of rock in Spain. They co-produce with the help of Asha Lorenz (member of the group Sorry) what will be an album full of vertices in the

that play with the idea of two sides of the coin, hymns full of light and shadow that lead us through love, grief, rage, and internal conflicts. Strength and darkness in a project that exudes freshness and maturity in equal parts and that confirms to us that shego is without a doubt the present and the future.

Phe Team assumes the executive production of Phe Festival, an event promoted by the Culture area of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council. Sen Senra will set style in Puerto de la Cruz

The urban pop phenomenon arrives in Puerto de la Cruz in its first concert in the Canary Islands with the tour PO2054AZ, also the title of his new three-volume album project. The artist is crowned as one of the greats of the Spanish scene, setting trends in each work.

#UnicoInCanarias || #WeTalkMusic

The urban pop phenomenon, Sen Senra, is one of the outstanding artists presenting the ninth edition of PHE Festival, which will be held on August 23 and 24 in the Tenerife municipality of Puerto de la Cruz. It will be the first concert that Sen Senra, the alias of Christian Senra, will hold in the Canary Islands and it seems like an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the live performance of this musician and composer born in Pontevedra, who has collaborated with figures such as C. Tangana, Julieta Venegas, Feid or Tainy, and since his debut album in 2015, he has conquered the public and the national and international market with songs that are anthems.

Sen Senra arrive at PHE Festivel in 2024 in Puerto de la Cruz with the tour PO2054AZ and the title of his new three-volume recording project. The title of the album and the tour is the license plate of a Peugeot 205 that his father owned, and which, on his countless trips, he discovered the music that would lead him to become an artist. Nostalgia for the past is the highway that leads to his most brilliant project to date. And it is Sen Senra's excuse to present an emotional journey, in which he discovers his most eclectic songs, where the urban is contaminated by pop, American influences, avant-garde and experimentation.

A journey that begins with I don't want to be a singer, a declaration of intent from the Galician ("I don't want to be a singer, I want to be something better"), going through pieces like One Of Those Cats, beside Sky Breaking (Feid, J Balvin…) or Completely crazy, produced by Tainy (Bad Bunny, Rosalía…), Senra DNA, Blue Jeans and a Crop Top, My North (with Ian Isiah), No Excuse, and others of the stature of Family or It doesn't matter what people think.

From his native Pontevedra, Sen Senra He began in 2015 to deliver songs condensed into two albums that immediately showed his facility for melody and for taking other people's references and turning them into his own. Permanent Vacation (2015) and The Art Of Self-Pressure (2017) were introductory albums, in English, that have little to do with the sound universe that Sen Senra manages today. The decisive moment in the Galician's career would come with his third job, Sensations (2020), produced by Anxo Ferreira. Here were hits that came to stay like YI don't need you, Don't let me go anymore, LIKE the fire or  86.400.

ROMANTIC ICON

Sen Senra He is a multifaceted and multidisciplinary musician of infinite charisma, according to his record company. A romantic icon with which the public and fellow generations immediately identified. Good proof of this was the call from C. Tangana to lock themselves up to write together How easy, a topic that became the seed of chrome heart (2021), EP that served as a follow-up to the celebrated Sensations (2020). A job that with pieces like wu wu, his collaboration with Feid, helped him continue opening the doors of the Latin public. His ability to transcend generations and audiences was demonstrated with another duet, in this case with none other than Julieta Venegas in Of you, with Manuel Lara, known for his productions for Kali Uchis, at the controls. Highlight, among their most recent collaborations, the song Beautiful coincidence, with Aitana, recorded months ago. The two met at her concert in Bogotá at the end of last year and decided to cross paths.

Sen Senra He is the fashionable artist. The tours through Latin America, with a special focus on Mexico where he has a legion of followers, with full houses at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City, among other milestones, packed concerts at the Wizink Center and at the Sant Jordi Club, show of the impact of his music and the public that follows him. Festivals such as Bilbao BBK Live, FIB Benicassim, Morriña Festival, Santander Music Festival, Sonorama Ribera, Festival B in Barcelona, FIZ Festival in Zaragoza or Cooltural Fest in Almería, as well as PHE Festival, mark Sen Senra's agenda until September of this year. In November, he has concerts scheduled at the National Auditorium in Mexico City. and in Puebla.

The Galician artist will be at the first day of concerts at PHE Festival 2024, on Friday, August 23, as one of the highlights of the lineup along with Lori Meyers, which also features the performances of Solea Morente, Joe Crepúsculo, La Paloma, Repion, Pipiolas, Jela and Enrique Ive. The PHE Festival completes its ninth edition with a second day, on Saturday the 24th, with lthe new yorkers !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and the danes Trentemøller, and national artists León Benavente, Mavica, Vera Fauna, Camels, and the Gran Canaria project Nala Rami. Tickets to attend the festival are available on the platform Tickety.es.

Phe Team is the executive producer of this festival, promoted by the Culture Department of Puerto de la Cruz City Council. It is also sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development and the General Directorate of Youth, Canary Islands Tourism, as well as Tenerife Tourism – Tenerife! Despierta Emociones and the Tenerife Island Council through the Culture Department. The following brands also collaborate: Aqualia, Heineken, IKEA, Levi´s, Pepsi, Jagermeister, Fuente Alta, Grupo RAHN, Labrador Cepsa Puerto de la Cruz, and Hemispheria.

#PHE2024 || #UnicoInCanarias || #WeTalkMusic

The ninth edition of PHE Festival, which will be celebrated on August 23 and 24 in the Tenerife municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, It is a unique proposal in the scene of music festivals held in the Canary Islands. With an eclectic lineup of artists in terms of styles and musical proposals, which is one of the hallmarks of the festival, PHE 2024 embraces national indie, emerging pop, urban sounds that are changing the rhythm on the street and in life, and dance music with an international seal. There will be two days of concerts with more than 20 hours of live music in a capital edition of Phe Festival which this year has managed to bring together in Puerto de la Cruz top-level international references such as New Yorkers !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and the danes Trentemøller, in addition to a generous catalog of national artists among veterans of national indie, such as those from Granada Lori Meyers, who will do their first concert in Tenerife; the reunion with Leon Benavente, which repeats in Phe Festival after his performance in the 2017 edition; or the Galician phenomenon of urban pop, Sen Senra, which debuts live in the Canary Islands from the hand of Phe Festival.

PHE Festival celebrates its ninth edition, consolidating its commitment to music and current trends on the islands, a work for which it has been recognized as one of the best cultural events in the Canary Islands in the ranking prepared each year by the Foundation's Culture Observatory Contemporary.

A sound menu for all ears and audiences that turns Puerto de la Cruz into an exclusive meeting point with artists who are unquestionable references in their style and who have set and are setting trends. A total of 18 musical proposals on a poster that complete Soleá Morente, Joe Crepúsculo, La Paloma, Repion, Pipiolas, Shego, Camellos, Vera Fauna, Mavica and Nala Rami.

A FRIDAY WITH LORI MEYERS

The first day of PHE Festival 2024 On Friday, August 24, the main dishes will be the people of Granada Lori Meyers and the Galician Sen Senra, in a sequence of concerts that from mid-afternoon presents the performances of Solea Morente, Joe Crepúsculo, La Paloma, Repion, Pipiolas, Jela and Enrique Ive

With the presence of Lori Meyers, in his first concert in Tenerife, PHE Festival settle accounts with his story. And there is no song by the people of Granada that is not an anthem, explosive songs that promise to make us fly. Lori Meyers has one of the best repertoires in Spanish music with major pieces such as Getting drunk, My reality, Time will pass, The sun always shines, High fidelity or Neon lights, among other. Active since 1998, their last and seventh album Infinite spaces (2021) acknowledges receipt of the past and projects itself into the future with stoicism, although without lowering its arms or giving up its weapons.

Friday's closing is in the hands of Lori Meyers. Before it will be Sen Senra, the alias of the Galician Christian Senra, a versatile musician with whom international artists such as C. Tangana, Julieta Venegas, Feid and Tainy have already collaborated. In 2019 he published the album Sensations, which would be a turning point in his career. The Galician artist has refined his own sound, marking ground. And proof of this is his most recent work PO2054AZ: a license plate of an old Peugeot 205 from Pontevedra that invites you to share an emotional journey where the urban allows itself to be loved by other musical cultures.

The voice of Solea Morente is one of the great protagonists of the first day of PHE Festivel 2024. The flamenco root of the Morente saga presides over his every movement, whether towards pop or alternative rock, between projects of different natures on which he has worked. His will be the stage before Sen Senra and just after the Barcelonan twilight joe of good account of his dance verbena, the tour that has put him on the road and brings him to Puerto de la Cruz.

The direct ones of La Paloma, Repion, Pipiolas and Jela will mark the first hours of the ninth of the Phe Festival in a day that will open Enrique Ive, Canarian-British singer and composer who fuses pop with touches of jazz, bossa nova and elements of soundtracks.

It is followed by the verb of the Tenerife singer Jela, an artist who raises her sights beyond rap and who released her first album last year Temple. After Jela arrives the turn of Pipiolas, the duo of Adriana and Paula, another phenomenon that the Phe Festival is keeping an eye on and that with a musical language of its own, mature, fresh and fun is asking for passage with a first album There is no god and countless stellar collaborations.

Ahead, the grunge pop practiced by the Cantabrian duo Repion and which sisters Marina and Teresa have been feeding for more than a decade. Words greater than guitar and drums, vitality, rage, post-adolescent frustration and a touch of melancholy to warm the temperature of the PHE Festival; and one of the national bands that has been going strong due to attitude and repertoire with noise rock as an alibi, the people from Madrid Dove.

DANCE SATURDAY

The second day of Phe Festival, on Saturday, August 24, leads to the dance floor with the presence of the New York band  !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and the Danish group Trentemøller. Two dance sequences of a different nature whose live performances will be the closing of what is expected to be another night and another dream festival in Puerto de la Cruz.

Music will have this day Nala Rami, the project of Gran Canaria saxophonist Alan Himar, a slave to the funk of yesterday and today, who reaches Phe Festival with the Sonora Passport which was awarded by the emerging bands contest Sonora Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2024, in addition to achieving first prize in the contest.

From here, a carousel of emotions and styles, with Mavic, an artist and producer from Murcia living in London, whose pop melancholy supported by electronic production translates into millions of views on streaming platforms; Vera Fauna, a generous dose of pop psychedelia and neo flamenco from Seville, where blues or Jamaican rhythms or whatever best suits the band also appears, as can be seen on the album The best years (2023), the second reference that includes songs like Career House or Tuesday, in collaboration with Kiko Veneno; and camels, Madrid band with a punk attitude with three published works, Stylebook (2022) is their latest album, and a party repertoire to sing in Puerto de la Cruz as the occasion deserves.

The second part of Saturday's day in PHE Festival leads to the dance floor. You will surely remember it Nick Offer, the vocalist of the Americans !!! (Chk Chk Chk), which close the night, with one of their incendiary headline songs, Dancing is the best revenge (Dancing is the best revenge).

But before Nic Offer and his people make the legend good, there is more to see, hear and dance in Puerto de la Cruz. After Pimp Flaco's set, it's the turn of shego, a Madrid rock band made up of Maite, Raquel and Charlotte. MIN Award for Best Emerging Artist 2023 and a released album Good luck girl (2023), Shego is another of the pearls on the Saturday day of the Phe Festival with hymns full of lights and shadows that lead us through love, grief, rage, and internal conflicts.

The final stretch of Phe Festival program three concerts destined to make history: Leon Benavente, Trentemøller and those mentioned !!! (Chk Chk Chk).  It is the second time that León Benavente has visited Puerto de la Cruz. We are facing the essential bands of national indie rock that were born in 2012 with some of the most renowned musicians on the scene such as Abraham Boba, Eduardo Baos, Luis Rodríguez and César Verdú. With four albums released, the notable self-titled debut, 2, Let's go crazy and WAS, and a live performance that will not be forgotten, León Benavente arrives in Tenerife after completing the tenth anniversary tour throughout the country.

From Copenhagen the Dane lands in Puerto de la Cruz Anders Trentemøller in band format. Although he began his career as a solo electronic artist, in styles such as techno, progressive house, ambient and chill out, in addition to working on productions and remixes for Röyksopp, The Knife, Mikael Simpson or Henrik Vibskov, among others, his work has experienced changes in style, always with the electronic substrate as the protagonist, in the band format. In what is his first concert in Tenerife and the Canary Islands, Anders Trentemøller will be accompanied, subject to changes, by Diisa Jakobs (vocals, guitars, synthesizers), Silas Tinglef (drums, guitars), Brian Batz (guitars) and Jacob Haubjerg (low),

The closure is for  !!! (Chk Chk Chk). The dance punk whirlwind arrives from New York to make Phe and his audience dance with an impeccable career that took off in 1996 in Sacramento (California), with a repertoire of hits and es's still fresh ninth album Let it be blue (2022). At least, you have to dance them live, once in your life.

PHE Festival continues to surprise with the confirmations of its ninth edition, headed by the internationally renowned artist Sen Senra, and revelations from the national art scene such as Vera Fauna and Pipiolas, who will perform on August 23 and 24 in Puerto de la Cruz in a program with more than 20 hours of live music.

It should be noted that for almost all the bands and artists confirmed by the festival, it will be their first time performing in Tenerife, in case of Lori Meyers, or New Yorkers !!! (Chk Chk Chk). The lineup of groups is completed so far with national artists who are an unquestionable trend in different styles, in the case of León Benavente, Shego, Camellos, Pimp Flaco, La Paloma and Repion, although the organization assures that there remains some international reference.

THE SENRA PHENOMENON

Christian Senra is the name behind the alias 'Sen Senra', a versatile musician with whom international artists such as C. Tangana, Julieta Venegas, Feid and Tainy have already collaborated. In 2019, he published 'Sensaciones', an album that marked a before and after not only in his career, but in the artistic scene, which received him as a genuine revelation. The Galician artist has refined his own sound that has conquered an ever-growing audience, distancing himself from the stigmas of the urban genre, with brilliance, concision and, most importantly, style. The title of his latest album 'PO2054AZ' is, at first glance, a license plate of an old Peugeot 205 from Pontevedra but, behind it, hides the artist's most emotional journey, discovering his most eclectic songs, with an international sound that mixes the urban, American influences and avant-garde essence.

A FESTIVAL FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

The festival also maintains the concept Family Friendly, planning like every year the accessibility of boys and girls to the venue during the day, bringing music and culture closer to all ages, with the idea of being a family-friendly, conciliatory and accessible festival. A varied program of activities, including art exhibitions, skate, bmx and related disciplines exhibitions, outdoor sports workshops, or yoga sessions, accompanies the concerts with the security of offering that added value that they call 'The perfect vacation plan in the Canary Islands'.

Vacation enjoyment during the festival week in the city of Porto continues to be one of the great bets of this event that marks the musical trend and summer on the islands. For this reason, on its website you can access the offer of travel packages that include accommodation, passes and flights. In the case of residents in Tenerife, they can also purchase packs with a pass for the festival + hotel.

dance brothers

The electronic pulse of the British duo Orbital, made up of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, shakes up the first day of concerts at Phe Festival 2023 in their first live performance in the Canary Islands with their recent studio album Optical Delusion

The eighth edition of Phe Festival 2023 embraces electronic culture and dance music with the presence of the British duo Orbital, in their first live performance on a stage in the Canary Islands in their more than 30 years of activity. The electronic pulse of the brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, snipers of rave culture and dance floors, one of the outstanding references of the British scene of the 90s, which takes its name from the London ring road, the M25, where raves and the electronic madness brought by acid house flourished, it is, for obvious reasons, one of the highlights of the programming of the music and trends festival hosted by the town of Puerto de la Cruz.

Leading group, innovator and pioneer of dance music since the early 90s of the last century, Orbital reaches Phe Festival 2023 in top form and with a fresh repertoire, that of his recent studio album Optical Delusion, which was published last February. It is also the second date this year in Spain after passing through the FIB in Benicassim last July. With Orbital, the Phe Festival 2023 will close the first day of live music at the dock esplanade in Puerto de la Cruz. The British will take to the main stage around 12:50 am, according to the concert schedule for Friday, August 18.

Paired in the Olympus of electronic dance with rhythm alchemists of the caliber of The Shamen, Letfield, Underworld, Prodigy, Faithless or Chemical Brothers, Orbital has withstood the passage of time with better muscle, with an excellence reserved for a few artists in a scene such as electronic dance music in all its variants and known subgenres. His speech, with the vocation of playing music live from his first shows, with noticeable influences from punk rock and early electronics, has gone through techno, acid house, breakbeat and EDM -Electronic Dance Music-, and a endless labels.

Active between 1989 and 2004, Orbital has always had one foot in the present to draw the music of a future that was yesterday. Like everything else, the band has had intermittent moments, and it was in 2009 when the Hartnolls put their classic lighted glasses back on and since then they have maintained a regular schedule between recordings, productions and tours. Like the bands and artists who made their way into electronic music in the transition between the 1980s and 1990s, Orbital built bridges with techno to blur the boundaries with other styles, and contributed to popularizing electronic music through live performances and attachment to club culture.

With more than 15 albums published since his celebrated debut Orbital (1991), the also called Green Album, that next to orbital 2 (1993), the Brown Album, are leading titles in electronica and rave culture; and references that cannot be ignored to put the British duo in perspective, such as In Sides (1996), snivilisation (1994), The Middle of Nowhere (1999), together (2001), Wonky (2012) or monsters exist (2018), which came after six years of silence in the studio and which until last February was the last published before the launch of  Optical Delusion (2023). Soundtracks for film and television and some four dozen singles, including several classic songs that have had a great impact on club, pop and underground music, complete a long career that places them above other artists of their generation.

from past to present

Optical Delusion (2023) brings back to the present some veterans who refuse to fall into nostalgia. This tenth reference in his discography is an album generous in collaborations with artists who have little in common with the electronic seams of Orbital, in the case of Coppe, Dina Ipavic, Penelope Isles, The Little Pest, The Mediaeval Baebes, Anna B Savage and Sleaford Mods .

Topics like Ringa Ringa (The Old Pandemic Folk Song), with The Mediaeval Baebes, which opens the disc, is a declaration of intent of what the disc contains as a whole. Day One, techno structure with Dina Ipavic; others like Are You Alive? with Penelope Islas, with a pop structure in the vein of Kraftwerk; the nod to breakbeat and drum'n'bass in Requiem for the Pre-Apocalypse; or the final coda Moon Princess, with the Japanese Coppe. To highlight above all, the outstanding dirty rat, with Sleaford Mods, the first single from the album, another blowout tracks from the Orbital factory, which is added to a repertoire with which the English duo move their audience to the dance floor as if there were no tomorrow.

Recognized by Kraftwerk as outstanding students - the German group invited Orbital to do one of the six remixes of Expo Remix (2000)-, pieces that are the history of electronic music sprout from Orbital's suitcase, as is the case with chime, Satan, Belfast, Impact, Halcyon, Are We Here?, Remember, where is it going? (with Stephen Hawking), among dozens, in addition to that nod to the pioneers of electronic music with the version of the soundtrack of the series doctor who (1963), composed by Ron Grainer and performed by Delia Derbyshire for the BBC.
