The pride of being Phe lover

On Phe Festival we are very aware of the value of our community. We feel loved and that is something that not everyone can say. The loyalty of the public that accompanies us year after year and that feeling of belonging to a family – a little unstructured, okay, multinuclear, not very traditional… but we can discuss that at another time – is one of the foods of our little heart.

Maybe you wonder what this emotional and even a little cheesy speech is all about and you do well, so here we go: we have to talk. Neither you nor we are what is said to be normal beings, nor do we need to, but since we all have our contradictions and have learned to live with them, and sincerity is the basis of a healthy relationship, we believe that it is fair to transfer one of our concerns: Why don't we make our thing official? Do we make it public? Be proud of Phe, as Phe is proud of you! A touch of merchandise does not commit anything, and this year we have incorporated some novelties for that of renewing or dying and also, why deny it, for giving a little point of originality to the thing. Long live the character!

T shirt

The classic for any event, group, claim or town hardware store. A t-shirt is the first step to declare your intentions and to show the world your likes and dislikes. Ours, of course, displays the entire luxury poster of this edition on the back.

Hat and cap

At Phe, in addition to you, we are committed to the city that welcomes us, Puerto de la Cruz. Did you think it was a monogamous relationship? When we met I told you that I was a party animal... That's why we thought that a fisherman's hat is the ideal garment that can square this love triangle: current, modern and perfect to feel like one of this city of seafarers.

Cork belt bag

You don't know you need it yet, but yes. The cork belt bag will soon become a classic at seaside festivals. In addition to this highly aesthetic design
Do you know that the cork floats? We do not want to venture anything, but if for whatever reason it ends up in the waters of the Atlantic, your belongings will be safe. Of the liquids that inevitably end up splashing on you at any party, too.

Hoodie

Our relationship is lasting, we know that your love is not a weather vane, that it comes and goes according to the wind. We do not want to be a summer love, but all year round. And, as La Jurado sang, “winter is coming, even if you don't want it”. A sweatshirt to remind us during the cold months? Why not.

With this we hope that you start thinking about it, but you should know that at our merchandising stand there will be some more surprises and, of course, the usual classics: mugs, basic t-shirts, badges, etc. while supplies last, so don't worry.

May our relationship not fall into monotony!

*You can buy the Phe Festival merchandise at the box office installed next to the concert venue, on the esplanade of the pier, from Saturday, August 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. As of Sunday the 14th, the hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., except on Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th, which will be uninterrupted from 11:00 a.m.

Who's who in Phe? Get hooked on the summer game (II)

If you're reading this, dear friend of Phe, you probably came from the first part, where we told you about the first day of the poster of this your trusted festival in its 2022 edition. If you don't come from there and you're here by the grace of the algorithm , of the networks or of your tendency to procrastinate without success looking for rolls on the Internet, you can click here and see what this talk is about.

If in addition to procrastinating you can be lazy and you have that flaw that is lack of curiosity, a summary: we offer you a brief presentation of the groups and/or artists that will animate our body and spirit in the two magical nights of Phe Festival 22 in Puerto de la Cruz. Here goes Saturday of Glory!

Glory Saturday at Phe Festival

Baldosa is a great name for a group. This is a subjective observation, of course, but lately it seems that subjectivity and "respect my opinion" are at the height of empirical knowledge, so go for it. Baldosa, we said, is a great name for a group, one that, moreover, on its Twitter profile, promises to make us dance and cry in equal measure. Can you resist that? We, tremendous and hedonistic in the same measure and proud of it, go with everything.

An intense pop sound and relevant rhythmic guitar playing will attract us to stage two, where El Faro will plant its base after six in the evening. They are from Tenerife and return to the stage after a break, like those couples who decide to give themselves another chance knowing that it is their thing. But they don't come back the same, that if it doesn't go funny. They return electric, risky, and with a pre-pandemic album produced by Guille Mostaza, with a title that seemed to warn us of what awaited us: 'The bad years'. We will have to ask them if their precognitive skills allow them to know when they will finish.

A yeyé pop duo in the 21st century? So yeah, what's up. Adiós amores it's new and fresh, guitars and synthesizers in the hands of two very young singers, producers and composers who sing their own songs, but it's also a fun and grateful look at Andalusian pop and the yeyé thing. Go ahead, we don't like comparisons, so we'll just leave a “Vainica Doble vive, Vainica Doble, presente” here and let anyone who wants to understand it understand it.

Lucia Tachetti it is one of the resonant faces of Latin American electropop, round sounds directed to the dance floor are part of an album with synth moments that has revolutionized the scene. We warn you that many people consider that of Lucia Tachetti an essential voice of the current pop scene and not a few consider her, also, one of the figures of tomorrow's electronic pop.

Maika Makovski She is a singer, songwriter, musician, actress, presenter and visual artist, as far as we know – if you are right now humming that of “architect, engineer, craftsman, carpenter, bricklayer and shipowner”, you are one of us. If not, excuse the digression, we'll be right back. One of the outstanding voices of the alternative pop scene and always in search of her own character, who is not the first time we enjoy on the island, but the first time we will witness her latest album live, which she herself defines as “direct, organic, vigorous, vital, fun and raw”.

One Saturday of our other life they thought to debut Chaqueta de Chándal in Tenerife. But it turns out that Covid had other plans and look, you can't leave your house until you don't know when in fortnightly installments and there we stayed, wanting to chant 'Don't look at the teeth of a modern hangover', 'We want to go a misa', 'Cayetana' or 'Hablemos del mineralismo', hits of space and acid rock by this group defined as an unlikely cross between Neu!, La Polla Records and Los Brincos. This is the \ It \ him Underground…

Alizzz He is the man without a face who has been responsible for the successes of artists such as C-Tangana or Becky G, a shadow brain that, about time, successfully claims his presence in recent times. 'You stopped loving me', the piece by C. Tangana with La Húngara and El Niño de Elche Produced and set to music by him, it can be a declaration of intent and an easy reference to explain his universe: the sound consistency of Anglo-Saxon electronics mixed with a certain national symbology. Ball.

Mula It is the Dominican music of the future. Or what has been the same, the music of the future in general. Sounds to have fun and dance, a mood electronic, enjoyment, retro, with the wave of the keyboards of the eighties, the electronics of the 90s, funk, rock, urban... What else?

Little more than five years the boys of Viva Suecia on the scene and it seems that they have been there all their lives. The Murcian batch of indie groups seems to have assured success based on passion, melodic forcefulness, majestic arrangements and epic guitars. Possessors of an authentic arsenal of hits – we suspect that they have the recipe for cooking anthems – they are one of the most requested groups in our suggestion box, for a reason.

Digitalism will put the official end point to this edition of Phe. The German duo is one of the indie dance sensations of this century, fun and imaginative, serious and ecstatic, worthy heirs to the German electronic tradition with a powerful and catchy proposal with which to say goodbye to Phe until next time.

For our part, return to where we started, to the metaphor of the buffet. We hope you satisfy your festival cravings with Phe. And with us, the same as with food, you can repeat as many times as you want. We already have seven!

This is our proposal for Friday of Passion and Saturday of Glory. How you spend Resurrection Sunday is up to you.

Who's who at PHE? Get hooked on the summer game (I)

Trying to analyze the poster of a summer festival, unless it is one of those corseted appointments in a genre – and still – is a bit like deciphering the offer of a buffet. Yes, we know, the metaphor can be a bit funny, but it is what it is. And at festivals, like at buffets, drinks are separate. Do you see how it is not so far-fetched? Anyway, let's stop justifying our little ingenuity and get to the point.

We said that the musical offer of a festival has a certain resemblance to the gastronomic offer of a buffet: some essential dishes, indisputable hits before which the respectable swarms, new additions that will become classics or not and some rarities that, a priori, They will only draw the attention of those who understand or who refuse to recognize their condition as a mass and assume membership in a supposed elite who knows according to what criteria. (Canned hearts of palm at a buffet have seen these little eyes that are now looking at the screen).

An event like Phe Festival, international, eclectic, multidisciplinary, family, sustainableWe stop with the adjectives because you will think that there is a bias and you will be right – it wants and must offer variety on its counter, be an attractive proposal for anyone and a refuge of solace for those who want to approach and withdraw from the madding crowd to immerse themselves in other noises. Thus, it is perfectly understandable that out of the entire offer – this year we have come a long way: two days, two stages, twenty groups, a lot of hours of music – someone escapes you. The conversations around us as the confirmations were announced took us back to long Sunday afternoons playing Who's Who?: “Is he wearing glasses? Use a hat?". And let's be honest, with these data, on a date like this, it could be anyone... That's why, in Phe Festival, your festival of confidence, with a certain enlightened desire, we have prepared a guide so that you can finally say without blushing that "I already knew them before", which this time will be true.

Passion Friday

The Weeird will be the group in charge of opening the door of love this year. The main stage of Phe will receive this powerful, electric and vibrant group from Porto that sounds like Manchester, although we would not be able to explain very well what that means. They play at home, in Puerto de la Cruz, and if you are still wondering whether to come so early, think about the future, looking over your shoulder and declaiming, like an actress from an old theater: “I knew them before they were mainstream

At 18:10 – we pretend to be British, now – time for the wild rock of MOLLO & The Freestyle Poodoo Experts, direct from the banana trees of La Finca 33, on the cliff tops of Los Patos beach, to the Phe stage. Soul, Funk and more things when the afternoon wants to fall. Anything else? You never know.

Las Dianas they are very young and for that reason alone they arouse the most terrible envy of the person who writes this. They come from Granada and that is another reason, but more personal. Insanely cool pop rides and sharp, witty lyrics, cheekiness and a whole lot of humor – and pretty punky, the way we like it. The music scene of the city of La Alhambra does not stop giving us joy, this time in the form of 5 girls having a good time singing –sometimes screaming– about everyday experiences, lack of love, hate and other issues. At 6:50 p.m. on the main stage. Then don't say we didn't warn you.

dani, with the “d” in lower case, it is hypnotic and hypnotic, sweet, sensual, elegant and a confessed fan of Jeanette. Our respects. A delicious way to start watching the sun go down from stage two, at their first concert in the Canary Islands.

Soul, hip-hop and dancehall coexist with coplas and boleros in the imaginary of Queralt Lahoz –Did you see how we can return to the simile of the buffet?– and they do it in such an organic way that, if we were not so condemned to overthink and we were not so given to the prosaic, we would assume that so hackneyed that “it is in the blood ”. (Only essential elements for survival are carried in the blood and, perhaps, some hereditary disease, let's stop with that already). The purity nested in a crossroads of culture and influences and a captivating live show that will leave you piqueto. Because, as Camarón used to say, “purity can never be lost when you really carry it inside you”.

Gaiety and discreet eccentricity, luminous stories with a gloomy counterpoint and an excellent reading comprehension of the world –because it coincides a bit with ours, we are so self-indulgent–, Kokoshca it comes at the right time to awaken our enthusiasm and our lucidity. And our desire to dance, or something.

The artist formerly known as Deluxe is one of the most solvent musicians and composers on the national scene and beyond. This, which sounds like a basic resume or mortgage loan application phrase, is the absolute truth. Xoel López, whom at the beginning of his metamorphosis the stubborn indies compared to Juan Luis Guerra –as if that were something bad– is solvency, elegance, talent and honesty. And also, as long as one knows how to listen and is like the reed –the plant, not the singer– a one-way path. Sing dance. Do not miss it. At 22:10 the verbena begins!

The Parrots they are irreverent, fresh, cheeky. With the flag-bearers poster of the new wave garage Spanish, they had to go out and succeed before we paid them a little attention –Oh, Mónica Naranjo, pioneer in so many things–. His dirty and magnetic show will close stage two on Friday night.

"Although you like Los Planetas like all the puretas” they sang Novedades Carminha –At this point we feel like we are bearers of a painful reality: they are not that they are scamps either– and a piece of trash settled in our spirits. whore? Are we really at that point of "any past time was better"? Do we have a belly like the night of kings with its presence in Phe because we are comfortably installed in another time, in another soundtrack? It's possible. But what is indisputable is that this other time is not that of the people of Granada. Theirs is still this.

Instituto Mexicano del Sonido It is basically, Camilo Lara. And it is, also, a genre in itself –how helpful this is when you don't know where to pigeonhole something–. Long live Mexico, let's return to the past and transfer it to the future. Let's mix cumbia with electronic sounds, alarms, take tradition so that you have your modernity. And yes, we are so obvious that the theme we leave you with is a cumbia-manifesto hand in hand with Las Dianas, of whom we have already said a few things above. Shall we cross our fingers to see it live?

And so far on Passion Friday, little friends of Phe. Let's go for Glory Saturday!

The way in which these creators and creators -both of Phe Gallery such as Espacio Relacional– they investigate new languages of live and plastic arts and how they transmit them is integrated into the idea of expanded culture, through which the Cultural and Creative Ecosystem of Puerto de la Cruz.

Phe Creative

Under the premise of innovation and culture also in summer, Phe develops a program of actions open to dialogue on aspects of interest related to the value of culture as an accelerator of the sustainable development of cities. All this from a playful and relaxed approach, in accordance with the values promoted by the festival. Moderated by the journalist Job Ledesma, it is a relaxed conversation that will include the participation of project promoters, promoters or managers, as is the case with Joan Vic Montaner, author of the book Here I lived. An emotional chronicle of my 25 years at the FIB (Libros del KO, 2022), Marian Lozano, from the Casa Maracas Agency and the Mayor and Councilor for Culture of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González, to share a day of debate and analysis.

Enoculture and transformation of the territory we inhabit

Phe Creative It will also be a meeting point with the work being carried out in the field of wine culture in the north of Tenerife. The festival proposes an in-depth approach to cultural and business management that is carried out from the professional field through a series of talks that will shed light on the relationships between economic growth, landscape protection, the transformation of the territory, the values of innovation and entrepreneurship, and how to feed each other forming an ecosystem. Phe Festival expands lineup in its seventh edition and incorporates new experiences

The meeting of music and trends in Puerto de la Cruz proposes 22 concerts on two stages with Los Planetas, Digitalism, Viva Sweden, Maika Makovski and Xoel López as headliners.

Phe Festival, to be held in Puerto de la Cruz from 15 to 20 August, grows in its seventh edition incorporating new spaces and experiences at the same time that it expands the musical offer with 22 performances live. This proposal will fill the corners of the tourist city with music and trends, with a program that seeks to reconnect audiences and that remains faithful to the values acquired since the first edition: offering a perfect vacation plan in the Canary Islands in a collective effort to revitalize the cultural offer and external image, contributing to the social and economic development of the municipality.

The news and main details of the program were announced today, in an informative act that was attended by the mayor of the municipality and Councilor for Culture Marco González; the Deputy Minister of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands, Juan Márquez; the general director of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands Laura Fuentes Vega; the island director of Tourism of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Laura Castro Hernández and Carlos Ulises Salazar, co-director of Phe Festival.

The festival takes a qualitative leap in terms of the selection of artists that are part of the poster for this edition. Proof of this is the participation of Los Planetas, a reference band in independent music, or the increase in international presence with the German duo Digitalism and references from Latin America such as Mexican Institute of Sound and Mule. To these concerts are added those of Viva Suecia, Maika Makovski, Xoel López, Alizzz, Queralt Lahoz, Dani, The Parrots, Kokoshca, Adiós Amores, Las Dianas, Chaqueta de Chándal, El Faro, Lucia Tachetti, The Weeird, Baldosa y Mollo & The Freestyle Poodoo Experts which, divided into two stages, will turn the venue located on the esplanade of the Puerto de la Cruz dock into a celebration of the best of the independent scene on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 August.

The addition of a second scenario is one of the main novelties of Phe 2022. A measure that satisfies the interest shown for years by the festival to expand the musical offer, so that more presence of Canarian groups can also be incorporated.

The celebration of the European Music Day (DEM) this Saturday June 18 at the Aguere Cultural Space in La Laguna will be the stage where Phe Festival will offer the presentation party for its 2022 edition, with performances bycatalan Ferran Palau, the jerezano ghouljaboy and the canarian band Sex Sodium Sullivan. The appointment will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will have a festive continuation with the musical selection of Víctor Carballeira and La Maldita.

vacation experience

In addition to the concert days, Phe Festival once again includes a varied program of parallel activities with Phe Urban Sports, Phe Yoga and Phe Gallery, multiplying the attractions with the expanded proposal Phe Summer Camp, a catalog of experiences related to urban sports, active tourism, nature and a healthy lifestyle that will take place from August 15 to 19, in tune with a city rich in identities.

With the experience accumulated in previous editions, the festival maintains the commitment of Phe Urban Sports. On Thursday, August 18, the San Antonio skatepark will host the regional skate and BMK championship, as well as exhibitions of riders and skaters. At the same time, the fishing pier of Puerto de la Cruz will once again be the scene of the acrobatic jumps into the sea contest III BMX Aqualia Water Jump, that returns on Friday to the programming of Phe. The festival, which continues to promote the participation of competitors from all the islands with a travel bag for free transportation, will end the sports day on Thursday with an award ceremony at the concert venue, in an act that will feature musical performances related to with urban culture and hip hop.

Phe Gallery will also offer novelties this year, since its programming will extend throughout the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, turning the city into an open-air stage. In addition to the usual collective exhibition of Canarian artists in the Castillo de San Felipe Cultural Space, there is a series of relational meetings of performative arts in different locations that will take place on Fridays between the opening of the exhibition, on July 30, and the concert days.

This year Phe Yoga maintains its offer of internships and diversifies spaces, a commitment to foster cooperation with some city centers in a collaborative and sustainable model of circular economy, managed as a public-private framework.

Sustainability and technology

The Phe Festival organization is firmly committed to the Sustainable Development Goals and will continue to work to promote a more responsible, accessible and egalitarian event. In this way, it deepens into the measures developed in order to make a festival with greater ecological awareness, through a daily activity that can be associated with up to eleven of the objectives set by the United Nations, also in tune with the 2030 Agenda of the Government of the Canary Islands. and the document 'The Seven Keys in Puerto de la Cruz', the roadmap for the city's cultural and creative ecosystem.

To its Sustainable Action Plan that it prepares and updates every year, the festival adds to its sustainable development strategies the Phe Sustainable Guides, a document for suppliers and collaborators, phellowers and artists, detailing practical actions and commitments to join forces and raise awareness.

Aware that sustainability today is no longer an option but an objective realistic and attainable by all, the cashless bracelet will be the system chosen by Phe for another year, both for access and to make payments more convenient for the public. In its commitment to digitization, Phe also incorporates this year the service Scan & Delivery in order to improve the experience of attendees who can place orders through a QR code without having to queue.

Another novelty that the Porto festival adds in its seventh edition is Woov, an application that improves the experience of those attending the event by being able to connect with their friends, both on the premises and in the city, and well plan their concert agenda being informed of the latest news in real time.

promotional packages

With the intention of positioning the municipality as a benchmark for live music, Phe has launched a national campaign that, under the title #HolidaysMatters, offers 100 free subscriptions to travelers from the Peninsula who prove they have a ticket plane for a stay in Puerto de la Cruz on the dates that the festival is celebrated.

Phe Festival also facilitates attendance from other islands of the Canary archipelago for this summer event in which the public is reunited with live music, being able to discover the attractions offered by the municipality and the north of Tenerife during the week of the festival.

In this way, it renews its promotion of packages that include flights from Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and La Palma (other islands to consult), accommodation in three and four star hotels, and subscription for the two days of the festival. In the case of residents in Tenerife, they will be able to purchase packages with a season ticket for the festival and hotel. Phe Festival offers on its online channels all the information about this Phe 2022 campaign, with prices ranging between 100 and 197 euros, depending on the destination and the chosen accommodation.

Phe Festival celebrates its seventh edition consolidating its commitment to music and current trends, a task that has led it to be recognized as a regional and national benchmark, according to the Observatory of Culture of the Contemporary Foundation, which highlights it as the cultural event of the year 2021 in the Canary Islands.

With expectations set on reactivating the creative industries sector while expanding its audiences, the festival faces its seventh edition in Puerto de la Cruz. Passes for the two days of concerts, as well as single tickets, are on sale on the Tickety.es platform, with a capacity of 5,000 people per day.
