Phe Festival reaffirms its sustainable commitment

On the occasion of World Environment Day we remember and declare good intentions for the fourth edition of the festival and all those to come in Puerto de la Cruz, hoping that they will be many and successful…

“Keep your love for nature, because it is the true way of understanding art.”

Van Dick de Jong.

Phe Festival has declared itself from the beginning as an inspiring festival, dedicated not only to music but to trends in their broadest sense. The entire team behind the project believes that sustainability and care for the environment is an ideal goal to turn into a way of life, in reality, the most urgent of trends since it is the most necessary and vital of all.

Our growth is slow, but every year we challenge ourselves to improve in all possible aspects. Thanks also in part to the collaboration of all the phellowers who give us their pheedback through the form that we publish every year at the end of the festival. In this edition we have a new team that fully joins in just for the coordination of this entire area that also grows along with the festival.

separate to recycle

We promote the selective collection of waste at different points of the festival to reduce the amount of garbage and encourage recycling. The collaboration with Ecoembes  and Ecovidrio and your participation by throwing garbage in the appropriate landfills will help us take care of the environment while enjoying the festival.

In the enclosure you can also find a composter for organic food waste, etc. in the food area.

We also weigh the different types of waste to think of new ways not only to recycle but also to reduce their generation.

Remember that…

Yellow: light packaging (plastic, cans, etc).

Blue: for paper and cardboard.

Green: just glass.

Conventional: other remains

Composter: organic matter for composting.

An ephemeral venue designed to surprise

Our furniture and decoration are 100% sustainable, they are completely ecological or recycled materials, reused and transformed furniture, canvases from previous events converted into puffs filled with clean plastics collected by collaborating businesses, pallets... the bulbs and decorative lights are rechargeable or solar powered .

This year as a novelty there will be small models of solar panels for electricity self-sufficiency during the day at points such as ticket offices, bars, shops, etc. It is also planned to provide a water point for free use by the public, which can cool off in hot hours.

Turning something used into something new and different is also an art form. From the organization we promote this type of action by creating our festival space with materials used from other editions, recycled and reinvented. All this to transform an apparently inhospitable space like the esplanade of the quay, which during the rest of the year serves as nothing more than a car park.

Moving also leaves a mark

We want to reduce the footprint we leave on the environment when we move, trying to make as few trips as possible and by car sharing.

From the organization we will do everything in our power to facilitate access and parking, as well as reward those who leave zero footprint in our environment, moving to the festival by bike, skate, skate...

We encourage you to use public transport or share a car, even using collaborative internet platforms such as Blablacar, Amovens or Wonowo.

Responsible and local suppliers

We promote the good things that our land has and that is why we like to work with local suppliers that also have a responsible culture towards the environment. Both the supply for the backstage and for the staff come from local caterers with km 0 products.

In addition, this year we will again have different recycling and awareness workshops in the area outside the venue, conveying the message not only to festivalgoers but to all passers-by who come in a pleasant and active way.

Social integration of minority groups

We favor accessibility for people with disabilities as well as specially prepared spaces so that their participation in the festival is safe and they enjoy greater enjoyment from an elevated platform to watch the concerts with peace of mind.

We offset our carbon footprint

Planting a tree is sowing awareness.

Every year we take accounts to find out what the festival's carbon footprint has been, that is, its impact on the environment and offset it to nature. We will evaluate the consumption of water, electricity, gasoline, etc., and based on the result of these calculations, the action of planting its equivalent in trees will be carried out with the support of local associations and institutions.

DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF OUR SUSTAINABILITY TEAM AND LEAVE YOUR MARK WITH THE PHE FESTIVAL?!

If you want to be part of our sustainable project and consider yourself a person with motivation, ideas  and concern for the environment; If you want to enjoy the festival while being part of the team and taking care of the environment, go to our website and fill in the form to be a volunteer at Phe Festival and create an unforgettable experience.

We renewed the AGF certification as one of the most sustainable festivals in Spain

The festival, which will be held on September 4th and 5th in Puerto de la Cruz, surpasses, for the second consecutive year, one of the most demanding sustainability audits in the international music sector.

Phe Festival has been re-certified by A Greener Future AGF, the prestigious British auditing firm specializing in sustainability for international festivals and cultural events, after thoroughly evaluating the 2025 edition. This certification consolidates the festival as one of the benchmarks in sustainability within the Canary Islands' cultural scene, reinforcing a track record marked by environmental, social, and community commitment.

The AGF distinction is awarded after an independent evaluation process that analyzes multiple areas of an event's impact, such as waste management, water consumption, energy and CO2 emissions, accessibility, transportation, the use of local suppliers, and integration with the surroundings. During the 2025 edition, The AGF evaluation team conducted an on-site analysis during the event, verifying the correct implementation of sustainable measures. and compliance with the standards required by the entity.

Among the most notable actions that have contributed to this new certification are the implementation of free water dispensers at the bars, the use of reusable cups with a return system, the proceeds of which were donated to an animal rescue association ADEPAC, along with mandatory selective waste separation throughout the venue. This is complemented by a commitment to local suppliers and products, the use of compostable tableware in dining areas, and the measurement of the event's carbon footprint as a tool for continuous analysis and improvement, for the second consecutive year.

The festival has also reinforced its social and inclusive dimension through collaboration with organizations such as AFES Mental Health and SINPROMI, the provision of an accessible venue with a platform for people with reduced mobility, smoking areas with provided ashtrays, and its character family-friendly, with free admission for children under 12 and a kids' area. Additionally, Phe Festival maintains a close collaboration with over 35 businesses in Puerto de la Cruz, fostering a positive and direct impact on the local economy.

With this recertification, Phe Festival is once again positioned among the select group of cultural events that meet the demanding sustainability criteria of A Greener Future., reaffirming its commitment to continue moving towards a responsible festival model, aligned with environmental and social values, and contributing to promoting Puerto de la Cruz and the Canary Islands as destinations committed to sustainable tourism.

fertilizers for Phe Festival 2026 are now on sale at Tickety.es. Among the first confirmed artists are national artists of the caliber of Carlos Ares, Rufus T. Firefly or Barry B, considered one of the great emerging national projects, as well as the British She Mafalda, and the Argentine singer Natalia Doco, besides the canary Choclock. In the coming weeks, Phe Festival will announce new international names that will be added to their lineup eleventh edition, which will once again be held in Puerto de la Cruz on September 4th and 5th and will mark a new chapter in the event's trajectory.

PHE Festival, a unique alternative for a festival getaway in the Canary Islands

The Tenerife festival returns to Puerto de la Cruz on August 23 and 24 with an eclectic line-up that has the Granada band Lori Meyers as the attraction for the first day, which also welcomes the Galician urban pop phenomenon, Sen Senra, a Soleá Morente and Joe Crepúsculo, among others.

The New York training!!! (Chk Chk Chk) and the Danes from Trentemøller close the Saturday night after live performances by León Benavente, Shego, Camellos and Vera Fauna.

#PHE2024 || #UnicoInCanarias || #WeTalkMusic

The ninth edition of PHE Festival, which will be celebrated on August 23 and 24 in the Tenerife municipality of Puerto de la Cruz, It is a unique proposal in the scene of music festivals held in the Canary Islands. With an eclectic lineup of artists in terms of styles and musical proposals, which is one of the hallmarks of the festival, PHE 2024 embraces national indie, emerging pop, urban sounds that are changing the rhythm on the street and in life, and dance music with an international seal. There will be two days of concerts with more than 20 hours of live music in a capital edition of Phe Festival which this year has managed to bring together in Puerto de la Cruz top-level international references such as New Yorkers !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and the danes Trentemøller, in addition to a generous catalog of national artists among veterans of national indie, such as those from Granada Lori Meyers, who will do their first concert in Tenerife; the reunion with Leon Benavente, which repeats in Phe Festival after his performance in the 2017 edition; or the Galician phenomenon of urban pop, Sen Senra, which debuts live in the Canary Islands from the hand of Phe Festival.

PHE Festival celebrates its ninth edition, consolidating its commitment to music and current trends on the islands, a work for which it has been recognized as one of the best cultural events in the Canary Islands in the ranking prepared each year by the Foundation's Culture Observatory Contemporary.

A sound menu for all ears and audiences that turns Puerto de la Cruz into an exclusive meeting point with artists who are unquestionable references in their style and who have set and are setting trends. A total of 18 musical proposals on a poster that complete Soleá Morente, Joe Crepúsculo, La Paloma, Repion, Pipiolas, Shego, Camellos, Vera Fauna, Mavica and Nala Rami.

A FRIDAY WITH LORI MEYERS

The first day of PHE Festival 2024 On Friday, August 24, the main dishes will be the people of Granada Lori Meyers and the Galician Sen Senra, in a sequence of concerts that from mid-afternoon presents the performances of Solea Morente, Joe Crepúsculo, La Paloma, Repion, Pipiolas, Jela and Enrique Ive

With the presence of Lori Meyers, in his first concert in Tenerife, PHE Festival settle accounts with his story. And there is no song by the people of Granada that is not an anthem, explosive songs that promise to make us fly. Lori Meyers has one of the best repertoires in Spanish music with major pieces such as Getting drunk, My reality, Time will pass, The sun always shines, High fidelity or Neon lights, among other. Active since 1998, their last and seventh album Infinite spaces (2021) acknowledges receipt of the past and projects itself into the future with stoicism, although without lowering its arms or giving up its weapons.

Friday's closing is in the hands of Lori Meyers. Before it will be Sen Senra, the alias of the Galician Christian Senra, a versatile musician with whom international artists such as C. Tangana, Julieta Venegas, Feid and Tainy have already collaborated. In 2019 he published the album Sensations, which would be a turning point in his career. The Galician artist has refined his own sound, marking ground. And proof of this is his most recent work PO2054AZ: a license plate of an old Peugeot 205 from Pontevedra that invites you to share an emotional journey where the urban allows itself to be loved by other musical cultures.

The voice of Solea Morente is one of the great protagonists of the first day of PHE Festivel 2024. The flamenco root of the Morente saga presides over his every movement, whether towards pop or alternative rock, between projects of different natures on which he has worked. His will be the stage before Sen Senra and just after the Barcelonan twilight joe of good account of his dance verbena, the tour that has put him on the road and brings him to Puerto de la Cruz.

The direct ones of La Paloma, Repion, Pipiolas and Jela will mark the first hours of the ninth of the Phe Festival in a day that will open Enrique Ive, Canarian-British singer and composer who fuses pop with touches of jazz, bossa nova and elements of soundtracks.

It is followed by the verb of the Tenerife singer Jela, an artist who raises her sights beyond rap and who released her first album last year Temple. After Jela arrives the turn of Pipiolas, the duo of Adriana and Paula, another phenomenon that the Phe Festival is keeping an eye on and that with a musical language of its own, mature, fresh and fun is asking for passage with a first album There is no god and countless stellar collaborations.

Ahead, the grunge pop practiced by the Cantabrian duo Repion and which sisters Marina and Teresa have been feeding for more than a decade. Words greater than guitar and drums, vitality, rage, post-adolescent frustration and a touch of melancholy to warm the temperature of the PHE Festival; and one of the national bands that has been going strong due to attitude and repertoire with noise rock as an alibi, the people from Madrid Dove.

DANCE SATURDAY

The second day of Phe Festival, on Saturday, August 24, leads to the dance floor with the presence of the New York band  !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and the Danish group Trentemøller. Two dance sequences of a different nature whose live performances will be the closing of what is expected to be another night and another dream festival in Puerto de la Cruz.

Music will have this day Nala Rami, the project of Gran Canaria saxophonist Alan Himar, a slave to the funk of yesterday and today, who reaches Phe Festival with the Sonora Passport which was awarded by the emerging bands contest Sonora Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2024, in addition to achieving first prize in the contest.

From here, a carousel of emotions and styles, with Mavic, an artist and producer from Murcia living in London, whose pop melancholy supported by electronic production translates into millions of views on streaming platforms; Vera Fauna, a generous dose of pop psychedelia and neo flamenco from Seville, where blues or Jamaican rhythms or whatever best suits the band also appears, as can be seen on the album The best years (2023), the second reference that includes songs like Career House or Tuesday, in collaboration with Kiko Veneno; and camels, Madrid band with a punk attitude with three published works, Stylebook (2022) is their latest album, and a party repertoire to sing in Puerto de la Cruz as the occasion deserves.

The second part of Saturday's day in PHE Festival leads to the dance floor. You will surely remember it Nick Offer, the vocalist of the Americans !!! (Chk Chk Chk), which close the night, with one of their incendiary headline songs, Dancing is the best revenge (Dancing is the best revenge).

But before Nic Offer and his people make the legend good, there is more to see, hear and dance in Puerto de la Cruz. After Pimp Flaco's set, it's the turn of shego, a Madrid rock band made up of Maite, Raquel and Charlotte. MIN Award for Best Emerging Artist 2023 and a released album Good luck girl (2023), Shego is another of the pearls on the Saturday day of the Phe Festival with hymns full of lights and shadows that lead us through love, grief, rage, and internal conflicts.

The final stretch of Phe Festival program three concerts destined to make history: Leon Benavente, Trentemøller and those mentioned !!! (Chk Chk Chk).  It is the second time that León Benavente has visited Puerto de la Cruz. We are facing the essential bands of national indie rock that were born in 2012 with some of the most renowned musicians on the scene such as Abraham Boba, Eduardo Baos, Luis Rodríguez and César Verdú. With four albums released, the notable self-titled debut, 2, Let's go crazy and WAS, and a live performance that will not be forgotten, León Benavente arrives in Tenerife after completing the tenth anniversary tour throughout the country.

From Copenhagen the Dane lands in Puerto de la Cruz Anders Trentemøller in band format. Although he began his career as a solo electronic artist, in styles such as techno, progressive house, ambient and chill out, in addition to working on productions and remixes for Röyksopp, The Knife, Mikael Simpson or Henrik Vibskov, among others, his work has experienced changes in style, always with the electronic substrate as the protagonist, in the band format. In what is his first concert in Tenerife and the Canary Islands, Anders Trentemøller will be accompanied, subject to changes, by Diisa Jakobs (vocals, guitars, synthesizers), Silas Tinglef (drums, guitars), Brian Batz (guitars) and Jacob Haubjerg (low),

The closure is for  !!! (Chk Chk Chk). The dance punk whirlwind arrives from New York to make Phe and his audience dance with an impeccable career that took off in 1996 in Sacramento (California), with a repertoire of hits and es's still fresh ninth album Let it be blue (2022). At least, you have to dance them live, once in your life.

PHE Festival It is due to live music and is its main strength as has been confirmed in all the editions held to date. But the festival also offers an exceptional complete experience and a catalog of parallel activities during the event week that include exhibitions by emerging artists from PHE Gallery, a massive yoga meeting outdoors, or the spectacular sea jumping championship by bicycle BMX Aqualia WaterJump. Subscriptions and daily tickets to attend the festival are available online on the platform Tickety.es, and at Levi's points of sale in the Canary Islands, starting at a price of €40.

With the intention of positioning the municipality as a benchmark for live music, PHE Festival renew the campaign this year #HolidaysMatters, launching the 2×1 special promotion with which you can invite a companion and enjoy the festival in company, designed for people who live far from the archipelago. The information page is https://phefestival.es/ven-a-tenerife.

The festival also maintains the concept Family Friendly, planning like every year the accessibility of boys and girls to the venue during the day, bringing music and culture closer to all ages, with the idea of being a family-friendly, conciliatory and accessible festival.

A SUSTAINABLE FESTIVAL

Aware that holding a festival in a privileged environment such as Tenerife requires an exceptional commitment to sustainability, in each edition PHE Festival is concerned with correctly managing the event at an environmental, social and economic level, Likewise maintaining collaboration with entities such as Ecoembes, Ecovidrio or Martínez Cano with which selective waste collection and other efforts are carried out to fully enjoy the festival.

Phe Team assumes the executive production of Phe Festival, an event promoted by the Culture area of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council. It also has the sponsorship of the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canarian Institute of Cultural Development and the General Directorate of Youth, Tourism of the Canary Islands, as well as Tourism of Tenerife – Tenerife! Despierta Emociones and the Cabildo de Tenerife through the Culture Area. The brands Aqualia, Levi's, Heineken, IKEA, Pepsi, Jagermeister, Fuente Alta, Grupo RAHN, Labrador Cepsa Puerto de la Cruz, and Hemispheria also collaborate.

Phe Yoga, the commitment to well-being and sustainable development practices

The activity is part of the experiences program of Phe Festival, the meeting with music and trends that celebrates its seventh edition in Puerto de la Cruz until Saturday, August 20 Continue reading «Phe Yoga, la apuesta por el bienestar y las prácticas de desarrollo sostenible»

Phe Yoga expands its offer in the 2021 edition

the encounter Phe Yoga, which will be held in Puerto de la Cruz on August 20 and 21 within the parallel programming of Phe Festival, doubles its offer this year with eight sessions, instead of the four programmed in the previous edition. The meeting will take place on the island of Lago Martiánez, which It will become a meeting and coexistence space for all the participants..

It is a response to the success of the call in 2020 and the commitment of the organization of Phe Festival with the development of transversal activities that complement the purely musical offer. The program takes place in two parallel blocks from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and attendees will be able to choose between different styles whatever their level of practice. The intention is to bring the different disciplines closer to both people who already practice yoga and those who are about to discover this activity for the first time and cultivate both the physical and the spirit at the same time.

Other more heterodox proposals that are combined with dance are incorporated into the traditional practices of breathing, meditation and relaxation, resulting in an ideal combo for those more restless spirits. As an example, the surf + yoga practice that will take place on Friday from 2:00 p.m. In addition, an inversion workshop with feetup, a Thai yoga session, the renewal of Ashtanga yoga and the dynamism of Yoga Dance, will be the showcase for this activity that has recruited so many followers during confinement.

Phe Yoga will culminate on Saturday with a vegan picnic of coexistence among the participants, by The Dog is Hot and 81 Foods, with the intention of prolonging the experience and developing themes related to the spirit of the meeting, such as conscious eating.

In accordance with health recommendations, the number of places is limited and the sessions will be held scrupulously contemplating all current security measures depending on the level of restrictions in which Tenerife is at that time. Even so, the organization recommends, above all, responsibility and caution. Registration for Phe Yoga can be done on the same Phe Festival page or at Tickety.es.

Commitment to sustainable development

Phe Yoga is an activity directly related to some of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, with which the organization of Phe Festival is firmly committed. Health and well-being and responsible production and consumption are some of the axes on which to reflect and put into practice during the sessions, although Phe's daily activity can influence up to eleven of the objectives set by the United Nations. Thus, for example, in collaboration with the Sustainable City and Planning Area of Puerto de la Cruz, Ecoembes, Ecovidrio and Tenerife + Sustainable, a Waste Management Plan is carried out that guarantees sustainable consumption and production methods, incorporating a circular economy approach that goes beyond waste management.

In accordance with this line of sustainable action, Phe Festival prioritizes issues such as health and well-being, with a self-protection and occupational risk prevention plan managed in collaboration with the Porto corporation and presented, since the previous edition, in the context of the health crisis derived from COVID-19 and in the that all phases of the event are contemplated.

What's more, Phe Festival commitment to gender equality both in the organization and in programming, with policies and measures that promote gender equality in the cultural and communication sector. In this sense, it tries to go one step further as an organization by dealing with equality, or its lack, in these sectors to detect problematic situations and propose solutions.

Clean water and sanitation, with accessible drinking water and adequate resource management in sanitation and the prioritization of clean energy during the festival are other actions in which Phe Festival is committed to sustainable development. To these actions we must also add those focused on economic growth through the supply of quality work, guaranteeing job security, continuity and access under equal conditions.

Definitely, Phe Festival and the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz work together  in an inclusive, safe and sustainable city project, taking into account criteria such as well-being, justice and social equality.

Phe Yoga is a sustainable development activity of Phe Festival, organized and directed by Phenomenal and Imoa Productions, and has the support of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council through the Department of Culture. Among the outstanding collaborators are BB Agua, Ecoembes, Ecovidrio and Tenerife + Sustainable.
