Phe 2021: back to basics

Time to step forward and that live music Phe Festival ring again in Puerto de la Cruz. Returning to its original venue, the dock esplanade, where attendees will find on August 20 and 21 a complete sound experience to enjoy in the best company and with the utmost responsibility.

We continue day by day with #GanasDeEfuerzo so that we can have a sixth edition of Phe in the best possible conditions. We will adapt our cultural venue to current health regulations, and the event will take place with an exhaustive security protocol for the public, artists and the entire team involved in the organization. Of course, we also have the collaboration –exquisite as always– of all those who will accompany us to inhabit the sunset of Puerto de la Cruz for another year. So the concerts will have to be seen sitting and sitting, as specified in the entry terms and conditions published on our website, making use of the mask and you will not be able to drink or eat in front of the stage

Given that offering a complete festival experience has always been our goal, among the measures we have decided to adopt –waiting for what the evolution of both the regulations and the pandemic brings us– are that of enable an outdoor terrace in an area attached to the concert hall, in which we will have a restaurant area where you can have a drink and access a varied gastronomic offer, along with a small selection of brands that will make up our market.

If already in 2020 we face one of the most complex editions, this year our commitment remains intact: to demonstrate that cultural shows can be held with guarantees, in such a complicated and uncertain context. And we do it with the conviction that we must continue supporting live music, supporting the tourism sector in the islands and proposing more culture with sustainable attitudes.

We also completed the poster of Ph 2021 with the confirmations of Bizarro Love Triangle, Rufus T. Firefly and Mel Ömana, who will join the concert days of the August 20 and 21 to the great direct of Zahara, Rigoberta Bandini, Anne Tijoux, Women, Biznaga, A lot, jack bison _june or Pat Llombet. The sale of subscriptions and tickets is still stopped, since we have covered the capacity allowed by current regulations.

We continue to give infinite thanks to public which has exceeded our expectations for yet another year with its response to this 2021 edition marked by uncertainty. Of course, at Cross port for their involvement in the project –especially the staff of the Culture Area– to the sponsors, collaborators, agencies, companies, artists and workers who have also felt Phe Festival.

We temporarily stop the sale of subscriptions and tickets for Phe 2021

On Phe Festival We are not oblivious to the uncertainty that has been generated in terms of holding events, especially after the restrictions that have been adopted by the authorities to stop the uptick in infections in recent weeks. Added to this is the uneasiness generated by the lack of definition of a regulated legal framework that allows us to work normally in the 2021 edition of the festival.

In this context, we have been forced to make the complicated decision to stop the sale of subscriptions and tickets since we currently have the capacity allowed by current regulations covered.

We will continue to put all our efforts so that we can live the full Phe experience in the best possible conditions. Like last year, current prevention regulations will be respected, according to the indications of the Government of the Canary Islands, and the event will take place with a security protocol. In this way, to this day it is still mandatory the use of a mask, hydroalcoholic gel, interpersonal safety distance as well as pre-assigned seats.

We will not tire of thanking our public for their unconditional support, Cross port for their involvement in the project –especially the staff of the Culture Area– to the sponsors, collaborators, agencies, companies, artists and workers they feel too Phe Festival. Our commitment to them, as well as to the live music industry, the islands' tourism sector and culture with sustainable attitudes remains intact.

In the meantime, take good care of yourselves.

There's less left to see each other...
…because we still have Phe.

Phe Festival expands the program of parallel activities in its 2021 edition

Urban sports, yoga, art and music to revitalize and convert Puerto de la Cruz into a benchmark for cultural and leisure activities in the Canary Islands.

The 2021 edition of Phe Festival will feature an intense program of parallel activities that, grouped into themes such as art, urban sports, yoga or music, will help make Puerto de la Cruz a benchmark for cultural and leisure activities in the Canary Islands. Phe Gallery, a space for the exhibition of the current creation; Phe Sports, a catalog of competitions and shows of urban sports to experience and get to know the city and its citizens; or Phe Yoga, the union of mind and body through practice in the open air are some of the complementary proposals to the concert days that will take place in the month of August.

Any regular at Phe Festival, the event with independent music in Puerto de la Cruz, knows that they will not only find the mere exhibition of the live concerts – which will be held on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 August – but they will be able to enrich their experience festival-goer actively participating in a wide range of entertainment that invites the public to share emotions and dialogue, a meeting point that generates sensory dynamics that benefit everyone.

Sports, Yoga and Gallery

In the 2021 edition, some proposals that could not be carried out last year due to the pandemic, such as Phe Sports, will also return. Fans and professionals of urban sports will find a complete program in various areas of the city from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 where adrenaline and action are the protagonists. It will begin on Thursday the 19th with the training session for the regional skate and BMX championship, which this year moves to the San Antonio skate park, one of the most complete in the Islands. The day of Friday 20 will be dedicated entirely to the competition in both disciplines.

The sports aspect of the sixth edition of the Porto festival  presents as a novelty this year an urban downhill MTB with the aim of revitalizing the city center on the morning of Saturday 21. The test will begin at the Hotel Las Águilas and continue with a vertiginous descent to the fishing pier passing through the Taoro Park. Competitors roll individually and the one who reaches the finish line in the shortest time wins.

To round it off, the fishing pier will once again be the scene of the Aqualia Water Jump, a spectacular display of acrobatic jumps into the sea, already traditional in the Phe Sports program. It will be on Saturday at noon when the riders will be able to jump into the sea from the ramp and achieve the best score by the judges.

The sports activities end in the afternoon around the pier, with the awards ceremony and a sample of activities typical of urban culture such as break dancing and roller-skating in acrobatic and playful variations in dance mode.

In its commitment to invigorate ideas and spirit, the festival once again incorporates into its programming one of the great trends that the health crisis left us in 2020: Phe Yoga. In this edition, the number of sessions is increased to enjoy this discipline that combines meditation and physical well-being, and will take place on Saturday, August 20, starting at 10 a.m. on the Isla del Lago Martiánez.

This year Phe Gallery will reflect mainly on the reality that we are living. In its bid to promote the work of artists from the Canary Islands, the collective exhibition will bring together, from July 30 to August 28 at the Castillo San Felipe Cultural Space, the work of 3TTMAN, Aldo García, Carlos S. Peña, Cristina Millares, Federica Furbelli, Laura Díaz, Lis es Beth, Manez, Moneiba Lemes, Noa González, Oscar Lorenzo, Paco Sánchez, Pathosx, Paula Calavera, Pelucas, Raúl Artiles and Serge Arzoumanian.

The website of Ph 2021 and the social networks will offer updated information with the details of the activities, calls and news that make up the Phe 2021 program.

Puerto de la Cruz and Phe Festival maintain with this program the artistic and entertainment proposals that it has been developing as an added value to the concerts that this year will be held on August 20 and 21 with a poster of musicians and bands in which references stand out. national and international such as Zahara, Rigoberta Bandini, Ana Tijoux, Mujeres, Biznaga, Mucho, Jack Bisonte or Pat Llombet. Tickets are for sale on the platform Tickety.es.

Integrated into the strategy promoted by the Puerto de la Cruz Culture Area, Phe Festival is organized and directed by Phenomenal Studio and Imoa Productions, is promoted by the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and is sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands through the General Directorate of Youth. Among the collaborators highlighted in this edition are The C Project, Red Bull and Hemispheria.

Phe Festival and Mueca, the best of culture in the Canary Islands in 2020

The Contemporary Foundation has presented the Culture Observatory corresponding to 2020, a report that they carry out each year with agents of the sector in which they place Phe Festival and Grimace, two festivals in Puerto de la Cruz, in the first position in the ranking of cultural events and institutions in the Canary Islands.

A piece of news that makes us very happy for the consideration and recognition of the effort that we have been making together with the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and that would not have been possible without the support of our public. This document, which has the assessment of culture professionals from the public and private sectors, has analyzed the impact of the pandemic on the cultural sector and its progress in digital transformation, as well as the most outstanding cultural institutions and events of the year, despite the difficulties in which they have developed in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Among the most outstanding novelties in the 2020 report in the Canary Islands, other festivals of different genres are added to the ranking, such as Keroxen, Boreal, Clownbaret and Canarias Jazz & más, events that share the top positions with the TEA, the Canary Islands International Music Festival, the Adán Martín Tenerife Auditorium, the Los Silos Story Festival and Masdanza.

Although 340 cultural proposals have been highlighted in the Observatory of Culture as the best in all of Spain in the most difficult year for the sector, no activity in the Canary Islands appears in the national ranking.
