Phe Festival and Mueca, the best of culture in the Canary Islands in 2020

The Contemporary Foundation has presented the Culture Observatory corresponding to 2020, a report that they carry out each year with agents of the sector in which they place Phe Festival and Grimace, two festivals in Puerto de la Cruz, in the first position in the ranking of cultural events and institutions in the Canary Islands.

A piece of news that makes us very happy for the consideration and recognition of the effort that we have been making together with the Puerto de la Cruz City Council and that would not have been possible without the support of our public. This document, which has the assessment of culture professionals from the public and private sectors, has analyzed the impact of the pandemic on the cultural sector and its progress in digital transformation, as well as the most outstanding cultural institutions and events of the year, despite the difficulties in which they have developed in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Among the most outstanding novelties in the 2020 report in the Canary Islands, other festivals of different genres are added to the ranking, such as Keroxen, Boreal, Clownbaret and Canarias Jazz & más, events that share the top positions with the TEA, the Canary Islands International Music Festival, the Adán Martín Tenerife Auditorium, the Los Silos Story Festival and Masdanza.

Although 340 cultural proposals have been highlighted in the Observatory of Culture as the best in all of Spain in the most difficult year for the sector, no activity in the Canary Islands appears in the national ranking.
