Coinciding with the dates of the Summer Solstice has been celebrated with enthusiasm for more than 40 years in hundreds of community cities the European Music Day.

#DEM It is a popular festival, usually celebrated in the street, that takes place in different European cities in a synchronized manner, giving shape to an international cultural agenda of which we are proudly part. Join the 13th edition of this music festival in the Canary Islands, celebrated simultaneously in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

European Music Day (EMD) in the Canary Islands celebrates 14 years next Saturday, June 20, coinciding with the summer solstice, with the longest days of the year being the perfect occasion to celebrate the universal language of music.

The planned activity in Tenerife features New York band We Are Scientists as a special guest. They are internationally renowned indie rock pioneers and dance floor alchemists, with a unique concert at the Aguere Cultural venue.

Complementary to this, on the same day, LAJARANA VOL.1 will be presented at the Costa Teguise Golf Club in Lanzarote. Twelve hours of music in a unique location, an.

The celebration of European Music Day in the Canary Islands aims to promote and strengthen the cultural offerings in the locations where it is celebrated, participating jointly in the European circuit of performances on the same day, as well as making the participation of the Canary Islands visible, showcasing the creativity of local, national, and international musicians and projects.

Alien Chicks is a trio emerging from the streets of South London that fuses punk, rap, and jazz with a raw, innovative energy, reflecting the most authentic spirit of London's underground scene. Josef Lindsay leads the way with his vocals and razor-sharp guitar, while Stefan Parker-Steele sets the pace with vibrant bass lines and Martha Daniels finishes with explosive drums. Their career began in grassroots venues like The Windmill in Brixton, where their powerful live shows and unique sound earned them a loyal following, leading them to fill iconic venues like The Lexington and the 100 Club. In 2025, they will release their second EP, "Forbidden Fruit," before embarking on a headlining tour of Germany and the Netherlands, in addition to supporting Pom Poko and Lambrini Girls on their respective tours.

Their music is a statement of intent: fast-paced verses, bass with a jazz soul, and thunderous punk rhythms that defy any label.

Alien Chicks knows no bounds or formulas.

Brave Children is the supergroup formed in 2023 by Nacho García, Rita Dolores, Dani Belenguer, and Miky Llaguno, names you'll recognize from projects like St. Woods, Jack Bisonte, Alavedra, and Tiburona. With lyrics full of sarcasm, everyday mistakes, and inside jokes turned into sing-along anthems, their music is a blend of melodic alt-pop with a garage touch and catchy choruses that draw from influences like Weezer, Dominic Fike, Green Day, Wet Leg, and Ginebras, their Vanana Records colleagues. Although their carefree attitude may seem improvised, there is meticulous work behind each song. Their first EP, "Grandes Éxitos," compiles five original songs and a cover of Nino Bravo's "Un beso y una flor," where they tackle everything from heartbreak to self-destruction to unpunctuality with a unique blend of humor and authenticity. Live, their professionalism and overwhelming energy make each concert a heartfelt celebration fueled by the mutual affection that unites them.

As they themselves say: Niños Bravos, we haven't fought since 2023.

GOOD FRANCO

Good Franco It is the musical project led by Fran de Armas, born in Famara, Lanzarote. Their sound, defined as "spacey indie," fuses indie, funk, electronica, and rock with echoes of their Canarian and Latin American heritage, giving rise to immersive atmospheres and catchy riffs. They combine elements of indie rock, synth pop, and psychedelic dreams to make each song unique, keeping them simple and meaningful. After a solo stint, Fran teamed up with Juan Pérez (Tawant, Boreals) and Leo Segovia (US, Laiv, The Good Company) to create their first EP, released in early 2024. Now they present "No fue el verano del amor," a new single that delves into psychedelic pop, with enveloping synthesizers and a powerful bass riff, narrating a summer "almost love" in a nostalgic tone. The song, released by Millo Solo Canarias / Sony Music Spain, is accompanied by a music video directed by Richard Cavero, in which an alien and a fisherman engage in an impossible romance in the surreal landscapes of Lanzarote.

With a dance energy and an increasingly defined focus, Good Franco continues to expand his sound universe with freshness, personality and a lot of identity islander.

RogerTenerife-born DJ, he made his professional debut in 1994 at the legendary FEVER venue, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in the local electronic music scene. He soon established himself as a regular fixture at iconic Tenerife venues such as K2, DAIDA/RKO, and KU, among others, and also participated in various club culture events on the island.
In 2001, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he established himself as a resident at The Hoxton Pony and performed in renowned venues across the country. During this period, he was also invited to play at the iconic NASTI venue in Madrid and the Sala Apolo in Barcelona, expanding his presence on the national scene.

In 2010, he returned to Tenerife and became a resident at the legendary TXOLA in La Laguna. Since then, he has been a regular at the island's major festivals, sharing the bill with internationally renowned figures such as Carl Cox, Jazzy Jeff, Todd Terry, Masters at Work, and Richie Hawtin, among others.

Today, Roger continues to be a fixture in Tenerife's nightlife, with residencies and frequent performances at venues such as Tintín, Bala, Bowie, Bulan, Picú, and Monkey Beach.

Las Dianas They are a Granada-based band made up of wise young women who, since the release of their first single in 2020, have cultivated a vibrant and forceful approach that fuses acid pop, luminous punk, and an irreverent attitude, charged with social criticism and feminism. In the studio and on stage, they appear self-assured, precise, rich in nuances, and constantly redefining themselves, reaffirming their place as the group you want to listen to. If the mythological resonance of their name already underlies feminist values, these take clear form in their music: determined to change the things they cannot accept, Las Dianas bluntly denounce the inequality between men and women, especially in the music industry. Their first album, Lo que te pide el cuerpo (2021), revealed surprising solidity for such a young group, while their long-awaited second album, Ya resolver mañana (Ya resolver mañana, Casa Maracas, 2024), confirms their melodic evolution, their creative ambition, and their ability to transform vulnerability into confidence.

With songs like “Imposter Syndrome,” “Putivuelta,” and “Me Jode,” Las Dianas continue to challenge expectations, celebrate diversity, and assert individual freedom with lucid, energetic, and deeply necessary discourse.

Baldosa, formed in 2021 in Tenerife by Paula (vocals and guitar), Garri (bass and backing vocals) and Miguel (drums), is a band that mixes shoegaze, pop, new wave, post-punk and rock with catchy choruses and a very marked local identity. Under the Calaverita Records label, they have released two EPs —Baldosa (2022) and Queriendo Igual (2024)— in which they address themes of love, heartbreak, mental health and mass tourism, fusing international influences such as Wolf Alice, My Bloody Valentine or Olivia Rodrigo with their own style. Live, they offer intense and energetic concerts, establishing themselves at important national festivals and venues, highlighting performances in front of thousands of people and a great media presence: they have been recognized with the 2022 Best New Band Award at the Canary Islands Music Awards, they reached #1 on Los 40 Canarias with "Lo Que Nunca Te Dije," and their viral video on social media reached more than 500,000 people.

In just a few years, Baldosa has established itself as one of the most powerful and authentic emerging bands on the Canary Islands and national indie scene.

Eve Oblivion She's recognized as a rhythm selector who got her start in music by DJing in a tribute duo to our Alaska: Olvido y Gara. Since then, she's been selecting dance music without any complexes, from any era and style, from indie to funk, with nods to disco, house, electronica, and some Afrohouse, focusing above all on great songs and what she likes most.

Eva Olvido is a curator of beautiful songs. For her, the most important thing is discovering the best track, and in that search, she moves from indie pop, disco, soul, funk, and elegant electronica.

She is currently one of the women we have on our islands defending musical culture wherever she goes and the female music scene.
