Skaters and riders defy the rules in Phe

Adrenaline has been the protagonist in Puerto de la Cruz during the celebration of the Vans Skate & BMX Cup and the Aqualia Water Jump, urban competitions of Phe Sports, the sports aspect of the fourth edition of Phe Festival. In BMX, Joel Camacho, in the Street category, and Darío Darias, in the Ramp category, were the winners in an exciting event held yesterday at the skateramp in the Plaza Escultor Manuel Acosta Martín. Similarly, enthusiasm took over the fishing pier this morning with the spectacular BMX acrobatic jump contest, whose absolute winner was Pablo Krop.

Second and third place in the Vans Skate & BMX Cup went to Sami James and Alfonso Suárez, both participants in the BMX Street category. This contest has also had distinctions for skaters, so in the Skate Open Rampa category, Jonathan García, Pedro Lorenzo and Pablo Pérez obtained first, second and third place, respectively. On the other hand, Niki Díaz obtained the first place in Skate Open Street, Nico Leal the second and Fernando Guerra the third. In sub 16 Rampa, the first classified was Guillermo Carballo, followed by Raúl Alonso and Emil Marshall in third place. Finally, in the female category, Abril Acosta and Azul Acosta won the first two prizes.

In the case of the Aqualia Water Jump, Darío Darias and Joel Camacho took second and third place on the podium of this spectacular and traditional competition in the Phe Sports program.

More than 35 skaters and twenty BMX riders from different islands of the Archipelago have joined the wide range of entertainment that Phe Festival proposes for these days in Puerto de la Cruz. The prizes for both competitions, valued at more than €5,000, include transfers to Vigo and registration for the O Marisquiño Festival in 2020, one of the most important urban culture and action sports festivals in the country, in addition to other gifts provided by sponsors and partner stores.

The Phe Sports activities continue tomorrow, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with four skate, BMX, surf and paddle surf workshops. Both experts and people not initiated in these urban sports will have a modern and up-to-date space in which to practice them. Phe Festival thus maintains the cultural proposals that it has been developing as an added value to the concerts, which in this edition will be held today, Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24, at the venue installed on the esplanade of the Puerto de la Cruz quay, with a poster of artists in which important national and international references stand out, such as Depedro, We Are Scientists, Carolina Durante, Locoplaya, Arizona Baby, Ángel Stanich or Los Punsetes.
