Phe Gallery, Canarian art makes its way

Ph 2018 reinforces its commitment to local creativity by bringing together the work of 18 emerging Canarian artists in a collective exhibition. Phe Gallery will be open to the public Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. until September 5 at the Cultural Space Castle.

 

The program of parallel activities of Phe Festival begins this Friday, August 3 at 8:00 p.m. with the opening of the collective exhibition of 18 new Canarian artists.

The Cultural Space Castle hosts this exhibition, curated by Alex Leto and The C Project, which you can visit throughout the month of August.

Painting, sculpture, graffiti, installations, photography, illustration, the urban and the social will be protagonists of the collective exhibition, in this third edition of the festival in Puerto de la Cruz.

 

 

Shall we start with the introductions?

Iker Wall: This illustrator from Bilbao who lives in Tenerife began painting his skateboard and has made murals all over the world, from Taiwan to the United States. His work, unpretentious, mixes pop characters, graffiti, illustration and graphic design.

Saul Ramos: trained in performing arts, interpretation, music, literature, plastic arts and specialized in graphic arts, advertising and photography, a profession he has practiced since 2014. His work is defined by European avant-garde trends as diverse as the Helsinki School, the New Objectivity, the Bauhaus , the new oriental trends, as well as meeting filmmakers who greatly influenced him such as Andréi Tarkovsky or Stanley Kubrick.

Daniel Gonzalez: This Tenerife native works in photography as well as photographic montage and illustration, basing himself above all on his travels. His work based on Japan stands out, one of his sources of inspiration. In his production you will find the extreme mixture of the urban and the natural, of chaos and peace, of the crowd and loneliness.

Elvira Stone Vera: feminine strength is the common thread of her work. It mixes traditional techniques that give great importance to drawing in an almost poetic way, capturing the viewer's gaze with the predominance of color, pop art and American comics.

Jennifer Doann: trained in illustration and traditional tattoo, this Tenerife uHe uses art as enjoyment and as a work tool, merging it with his profession: psychology. It involves art therapy as a form of reflection, communication and personal development.

Rima Čiplytė: professional illustrator who mixes digital and traditional techniques to create very personal drawings, most of them about imaginary characters. His style, creative and centered on figurative characters, invites you to let your imagination run wild and invent stories based on reality.

Nebras Turdidae. This plastic artist from Tenerife, winner of the first prize in the first edition of Why Culture Matters?, works with painting and illustration with total freedom, wandering through realism, surrealism and a visual language typical of pop culture.

 

the painting of Ruben Anon comes to Phe Gallery with the passion that characterizes his work. With a great interest in painting from an early age, this Cuban has settled in the Canary Islands from where he makes original murals and decorations.

Diego Left defines himself as a pop photorealistic artist. His work focuses on portraying vehicles showing its lines without environmental influences and uses at least 5 techniques per work. Wood, bodywork, traffic signs or old advertising posters are the formats that he works with atypical results. 

The work of Robert Rodriguez, Ro.Ro, is based on painting and drawing, managing to create new spaces, full of life, anonymous and humanized, where figuration becomes the basis of the story. A geek, foul-mouthed, hedonistic and kistch universe.

Federico Garcia Trujillo proposes a holistic project around the contemporary possibilities of painting and drawing. His work explores territories that range from the very history of painting, memory, documentary analysis or the synergies between art and music.


The work of Rafael Exposito revolves around painting, video, installation and drawing. stupid painting is his latest project in which he deals with the virtualization of the sensitive experience. His work ironizes with images of power, giving rise to representations of contingent, threatened and dystopian spaces.

the painting of Daniel of the Guard combines different techniques and styles in its artistic samples. He is currently one of the young talents with great projection in the Archipelago and his work, which includes body tattoos, has been exhibited in European countries, winning several awards. 

advertising photography teacher, Lucia Pitters is professionally engaged in commercial photography. He has exhibited his work in art galleries on the Islands. He has published in various formats locally, nationally and internationally. In 2018, its research stage will begin.

Oscar Latuag defines his work as a future of sensations and emotions, a dance between the abstract and the mundane that is inspired by nature and its necessary simplicity to reach a personal story.

Ivan Alonso creates unique and exclusive pieces from recycled objects and demolition materials. His sculptures made of wire and paper have a delicate appearance and are based on movement giving importance to the concept of freedom.

The lighthouse traveler he creates works that talk about second chances with discarded objects that he finds on the street. This visual artist born in Tenerife reflects on beauty with a transforming gaze

photography of Francesco Visone investigates the search for individuality outside of social norms. Professionally dedicated to commercial photography, he claims diversity in relation to the canons established by fashion and advertising.
