Phe Festival says goodbye to the largest edition in its history with record attendance

More than 10,000 people attended the concerts and activities distributed throughout the past week in Puerto de la Cruz. The festival celebrates its eighth edition on August 18 and 19, 2023

Phe Festival dismisses in Puerto de la Cruz an edition like no other in its history with an unprecedented response from the public. Two days of live concerts and a week that has filled the city with music and trends incorporating new spaces and experiences confirm that the essence of the event is still present: offering a perfect vacation plan in the Canary Islands in a collective effort to revitalize the cultural and the exterior image with fresh and unique proposals. The festival returns on August 18 and 19, 2023, as always, to the dock esplanade.

A total of 10,000 people – some 5,000 per day – attended the more than 20 concerts and sessions of Phe 2022, thus surpassing the attendance of 2019, the last edition before those of 2020 and 2021, in which the festival did not stop being held despite the extreme difficulties that arose due to the pandemic, although with a capacity limit. Phe Festival sees the forecasts set out thus fulfilled, with an increase in advance sales for live shows on Friday 19, while more tickets were sold at the box office on Saturday 20.

In addition to concert days, Phe Festival has reinforced and expanded this year a varied program of parallel activities. This closes a historic edition in every way. The recovery of BMX Aqualia Water Jump on Phe Urban Sports; that of the increase and diversification of the locations of Phe Yoga; that of the expansion of Phe Gallery with Espacio Relacional, the meetings between creators and creators with citizens and visitors; the one around the corner Phe Creative, culture and innovation in a summer key; the premiere of Phe Summer Camp, a catalog of activities related to urban sports, active tourism, nature and a healthy lifestyle that have been very well received in the city, multiplying the commitment to offer a complete festival experience to audiences of all ages and tastes during a whole week. Proposals that have had the collaboration of the business and cultural environment of the city, in a sustainable and cooperative model of circular economy that contributes to its social and economic development.

This edition has shown the desire to live the experience of the best live sounds that characterize Phe Festival. With more than 20 hours of concerts spread over two stages, the festival has taken a qualitative leap this year in terms of the selection of artists and bands with a parity line-up that has brought unconditional and new followers together from the most universal rock to the electronic dance, going through pop, trap or the most garage punk. Los Planetas, Digitalism, Viva Suecia, Xoel López, Maika Makovski, Alizzz, Instituto Mexicano del Sonido, Mula, Queralt Lahoz, dani, The Parrots, Kokoshca, Adiós Amores, Las Dianas, Chaqueta de Chándal, El Faro, Lucia Tachetti, The Weeird, Baldosa and Mollo and the freestyle poodoo experts have made this edition of Phe sound in many ways, making it a more international and intergenerational festival.

With the dates announced for 2023, Phe Festival is already facing its eighth edition, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening Puerto de la Cruz as a benchmark in the development and promotion of the island's cultural and creative fabric, being an attractive destination with an identity. To do this, it has put on sale online through its website and the platform Tickety.es a first edition of subscriptions at a promotional price of 30 euros.

One more step in sustainability

On Phe Festival We have managed to make progress in this edition in achieving up to eleven of the Sustainable Development Goals in order to make a festival with greater awareness, through a daily activity that can also be associated with the 2030 Agenda of the Government of the Canary Islands and the document 'Las Seven Keys in Puerto de la Cruz'. With a Sustainable Action Plan which is prepared and updated each year, the festival adds to its sustainable development strategies the Phe Sustainable Guides, a document for suppliers and collaborators, phellowers and artists, detailing practical actions and commitments to join forces and raise awareness.

Phe 2022 has had a wide gastronomic offer to satisfy all kinds of tastes and food needs, promoting the use of local products and brands.

The festival has guaranteed accessibility and care for people with reduced mobility within the venue. Also different rest areas designed especially for the family audience. In the same way, Phe fEncourages the use of reusable and returnable cups at the same time that it has been concerned with guaranteeing theto waste separation in all areas of the venue and in all its phases (assembly, celebration and disassembly) thanks to the collaboration of local companies and entities.

For all those who have been left wanting more, the sample Phe Gallery, which brings together the work of more than 16 contemporary artists, will remain open until August 27 during the usual hours of the Castillo de San Felipe Cultural Space, from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
