The fifth edition of Phe Gallery opens on July 30 with the work of 16 contemporary artists

As a novelty, the collective exhibition incorporates Relational Space, a program of creative meetings open to the public that will take place on August 5 and 12 in Puerto de la Cruz

Phe Gallery, one of the activities dedicated to the current creation of Phe Festival, opens this Saturday, July 30, at 8:00 p.m., in the San Felipe Castle Cultural Space in Puerto de la Cruz. Through the eyes of 16 artists, the exhibition – which can be visited free of charge until August 28 – proposes new ways of approaching current issues with multidisciplinary research and work.

The event will consist of an encounter with creativity and innovation from a relaxed perspective. Thus, after the official opening of the exhibition – which will feature some live creations – a performance by dancer and choreographer Daniel Morales and a music session by Manatí will be added outside, in a unique and creative networking environment.

Curated by Elisa Castro Horemans and Bárbara Narelys Hernández Calero, this group reveals to the visitor the proposals of adriana glez, Alpert, Ana Beltra, Aurembiaix Ainsa, Carla Marzan, dadbugs, Edward Hodgson, Emma Martin, FourTearz, Gaia Florina, Javier Caldes, Jorge Mendez Hernandez, Julia Maria Martin, Lua, Lucia Dorta Abad and Magus, selected from an open call. The artists in this fifth edition of Phe Gallery agree when it comes to approaching their works as assets without which it would not be possible to build new ways of dialoguing with the public, nor to question reality or social transformation. The festival proposes a guided tour of the exhibition on Saturday, August 20, a free-entry activity by the exhibition's curators.

As a novelty this year, Phe Gallery will have continuity during the month of August with the start-up of relational space, a series of artistic and performative encounters between creators and creators from different disciplines of the living arts: June (muralism) Mario Varela (performative actions) and Juan Labory (music), on Friday, August 5; while dani ache (muralism) Margot Machado (performative actions) and Hannibal + Daniel (music) intervene on Friday 12. This initiative, open to the public, will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Quintana street in the same space as the exhibition as part of the educational and informative programming of Phe Festival, with culture as an essential contribution to the sustainable development of Puerto de la Cruz.

With the creation of these encounters, it opens in Phe Festival a new space for reflection, criticism and thought. A program designed so that local artists can dialogue with the city and its visitors from their contemporary scenic proposals. The way in which these creators –both from Phe Gallery and from Espacio Relacional– investigate new languages of living and plastic arts and how they transmit them is integrated into the idea of expanded culture, through which the Cultural and Creative Ecosystem of Puerto de la Cruz.

The festival continues to bet on innovation in cultural proposals as an added value to the concert days, which in this edition will be held on August 19 and 20 in the venue installed on the dock esplanade with a poster that highlights names such as Los Planetas, Digitalism, Viva Suecia, Xoel López, Maika Makovski or Alizzz. Tickets are already on sale on the website itself. www.phefestival.es and on the platform www.tickety.es.

Phe Gallery is a creative development project of Phe Festival that has the support of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council through the Department of Culture, as well as the General Directorate of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Fundación Canaria de Juventud Ideo .
