Sports and urban culture take center stage on August 18 and 19 at the seventh edition of the music and trends festival in Puerto de la Cruz, which brings back the III BMX Aqualia Water Jump
Urban sports competitions and exhibitions once again take center stage in the seventh edition of Phe Festival, which is being held this week in Puerto de la Cruz. This summer date with music and trends maintains its commitment to physical activity and its involvement with the city through Phe Urban Sports, which takes the form of a catalog of regional and local competitions, as well as exhibitions in disciplines such as skateboarding, BMX, roller dance and waterline, which will take place Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19 in various spaces of the tourist city.
In its commitment to developing dynamic activities, the sports aspect of Phe Festival consolidates its programming that complements the two days of live concerts, which this year will be held on August 19 and 20 at the venue installed on the dock esplanade. Previously, those who come to the San Antonio skatepark on Thursday, August 18, will be able to witness the regional skate and BMX championship. The tests will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – with warm-up from 10:00 a.m. – in modalities that range in age from 5 to 75 years for BMX, as well as open and sub-16 for skateboarding, with prizes valued at more than 3,500 euros.
After the two-year hiatus forced by the health crisis, the acrobatic jumps into the sea contest returns to the Phe Festival program III BMX Aqualia Water Jump. The fishing dock of Puerto de la Cruz will be the scene on Friday, August 19, starting at 1:00 p.m., of this spectacular exhibition in which the riders will be able to launch themselves into the sea from the enabled ramp to gain momentum and achieve the best score by the judges.
Participation in the different competitions is open to skaters and riders from all over the Canary Islands and for those competitors residing on other islands, the organization will provide a travel bag to cover travel expenses. Phe Urban Sports It is carried out in accordance with the values promoted by the festival that, beyond the mere exhibition, brings sport closer to the attending public, as well as to the citizens and visitors of Puerto de la Cruz with an outstanding range of experiences, a point of I find that it generates sensory dynamics that benefit everyone.
In this way, on Friday 19, from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., a roller dance show is also planned at the fishing dock by Canary Roller Girls, who will offer a lively show combining freestyle, juggling and dance on skates. At the same time, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Tenerife Slackline Association you'll be performing flashy waterline tricks on a slackline belt suspended several meters above the water on the same stage.
